6203ORDINANCE NO. 6 2 0 3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ESTABLISHING THE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMIT FOR THE ELECTION CYCLE COMMENCING JANUARY 1,2011, PURSUANT TO ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 1.09.050 WHEREAS, Section 1.09.050 of Chapter 1.09 of Title 1 of the Anaheim Municipal Code provides that no person shall make, and no candidate or candidate controlled committee shall accept, any contributions for a city election which would cause the total amount contributed by such person to such candidate or controlled committee to exceed the Contribution Limit amount as established pursuant to such section; and WHEREAS, the contribution limit for the election cycle ending December 31, 2010, was $1,700; and WHEREAS, paragraph .0502 of subsection .050 of Section 1.09.050 provides that the City Council shall, by ordinance, adjust the campaign contribution limitation in January of odd - numbered years to reflect any cumulative increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers for the Los Angeles- Riverside -Orange Counties Urban Area as announced by the United States Department of Labor since the last adjustment, and that such adjustments shall be rounded off to the nearest hundred dollars for the limitations on contributions; and WHEREAS, the change in the CPI for the two -year period following the last adjustment to the campaign contribution limit in January, 2009, is a cumulative increase of 3.2 %; and WHEREAS, a 3.2% increase in the previous campaign contribution limit of $1700 equals $1,754, which, rounded to the nearest $100 as required by Section 1.09.050, makes the maximum campaign contribution limit for the election cycle commencing January 1, 2011, $1,800. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Effective January 1, 2011, the campaign contribution limit shall be $1800. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall notify all candidates for city office of the amount of the campaign contribution limit then in effect.
