ORDINANCE NO. 6463 <br />AN UNCODIFIED ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM <br />ESTABLISHING THE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMIT FOR THE <br />ELECTION CYCLE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2019, PURSUANT TO <br />ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 1.09.050 <br />WHEREAS, Section 1.09.050 of Chapter 1.09 of Title 1 of the Anaheim <br />Municipal Code provides that no person shall make, and no candidate or candidate controlled <br />committee shall accept, any contributions for a city election which would cause the total amount <br />contributed by such person to such candidate or controlled committee to exceed the Contribution <br />Limit amount as established pursuant to such section; and <br />WHEREAS, the contribution limit for the election cycle ending December 31, <br />2018, was $2,000; and <br />WHEREAS, paragraph .0502 of subsection .050 of Section 1.09.050 provides that <br />the City Council shall, by ordinance, adjust the campaign contribution limitation in January of <br />odd -numbered years to reflect any cumulative increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index <br />for all urban consumers for the Los Angeles -Riverside -Orange Counties Urban Area as <br />announced by the United States Department of Labor since the last adjustment, and that such <br />adjustments shall be rounded off to the nearest hundred dollars for the limitations on <br />contributions; and <br />WHEREAS, the change in the CPI for the two-year period following the last <br />adjustment to the campaign contribution limit in January 2017, is a cumulative increase of 7%; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, a 7% increase in the previous campaign contribution limit of $2,000 <br />equals $2,140, which, rounded to the nearest $100 as required by Section 1.09.050, makes the <br />maximum campaign contribution limit for the election cycle commencing January 1, 2019, <br />$2,100. <br />
