THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AS 1 FOLLOWS : SEOTIOA 1. That Section 3 0, Subdivision (a) of Ordinance No. 497 of the City of Anaheim entitled "1a Ordinance of the City of Anaheim Regulating the Travel and Use of Public Streets, Establishing a Business District amd Providing a Penalty for Breach of any of the Rules and Regulat ions of This Ordinance*, adopted April S. 19262 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 30 (c)e It shall be unlawful to park any t rue k upon any parking lot or area owned or maintained by the City of Anaheim and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corpora- tion or association to park or leave parked any automobile or other motor vehicle upon any such public parking lot or area owned or mainta#ned by the City of Anaheim for a period of more than two hours, between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P *M9 , Sundays and Holidays excepted, and the City Engineer be and he is authorized and directed to post signs upon said public park- ing lots and areas owned by the City of Anaheim designating the time limit for parking in said parking lots and areae. SECTION II. That any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished as provided in Section 33 of Ordinance No. 497. SECTION III. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION Iv. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an urgency measure and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption. The conditions constituting such urgency are as followso* The City has heretofore acquired and established off-stree 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18! 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30I31 3211 11public parking lots and areas for the convenience of the citizens of Amheij and shoppers wishing to trade with the Anaheim merchant that no time limits have heretofore been established for the parkinE upon said public parking lots; that as a result thereof, persons living and working in the City of Anaheim have. t o a large degree appropriated said parking areas and park their vehicles there all day; that this condition seriously interferes *ith the use of said parking lots and areas by -persons who wish to shop in Anaheim and trade with merchants in said city; that the Christmas season is rapidly approaching and there is a shortage of parking areas in the business district of the -City of Anaheim; that unless some limit is placed upon the time within which vehicles may be parked in said parking areas, it will result in wreat inconvenience to the resident and citizens of Anaheim and to shoppers and the merchants of the City of Anaheim will suffer losses, and the City Council finds, therefore, that this Ordinance should be adopted as an urgency measure and should become effective immediately upon its adoption. SECTION V. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance, and cause the same to be published once in the Anaheim Bulletin, a daily newspaper, printed, published and gen- erally circulated in the City of Anaheim, and the same shall take effect -and be in force immediately upon its adoption.
