State of California; that said Anaheim Gazette is and was at all times herein
mentioned, a newspaper of general circulation and is published for the dis-
semination of local and telegraphic news and intelligence of a general char-
acter, having a bona fide subscription list of paying subscribers; that at all
said times said newspaper had been established, printed and published in the
said City of Anaheim, in said County and State at regular intervals for more
than one year preceding the first publication of the notice herein mention-

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC-
TION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 340
OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM,
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
FIXING THE COMPENSATION
OF THE MARSHAL AND DEP-
UTY MARSHALS OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM," PASSED AND
ADOPTED ON THE 12TH DAY
OF DECEMBER, 1918, AS THE
SAME WAS AMENDED BY OR-
DINANCE NO. 396 OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM, PASSED AND
ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY
OF JANUARY, 1921.
for the immediate passage and taking
effect of this ordinance; that the facts
constituting such emergency are as
follows: That the regular police force
in the City of Anaheim, at the pres-
ent time, consists of a City Marshal,
and four deputy city marshals and
that by reason of the prevalence of
crime in the City of Anaheim, and sur-
rounding territory, the present police
force of said city is inadequate to
prevent the commission of crime and
apprehend crimil als in said city, and
for that reason an emergency exists
requiring the immediate passage and
taking effect of this ordinance.
