ed and published weekly in the City of Anaheim, in said County of Orange,
State of California; that said Anaheim Gazette is and was at all times herein
mentioned, a newspaper of general circulation and is published for the dis-
semination of local and telegraphic news and intelligence of a general char-
acter, having a bona fide subscription list of paying subscribers; that at all
said times said newspaper had been established, printed and published in the
said City of Anaheim, in said County and State at regular intervals for more

AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE
COMPENSATION OF THE CHIEF
OF POLICE AND PATROLMEN OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND RE-
PEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDIANCES IN CON-
I•LICT HEREWITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
O.,' ANAHEIM DO ORDAIN AS FOL-
LOWS:
SECTION 1. The compensation of
the Chief of Police and ex -officio tax
a..d license collector, is hereby fixed at
_coo Hundred Fifty ($250.00) Dollars
per month, payable monthly, which com-
pensation shall be in full for all ser-
vices now, or which may be hereafter
required by him by any law of the
a,at: of Caiifornia, or by any Ordinance
or Resolution of the City Council of said
C.ty, now in effect, or which may here-
a_,er be enacted or adopted.
Nothing in this section, however,
shail be co,:stru(_d to prohibit the Chief
of Police from demanding and receiving
such compensation as may be allowed
by .aw for services rendered for serv-
ing process from the Superior Court of
justice's Court, in the State of Calif-
ornia, or from collecting from parties to
Civil actions any lawful fees for the
service of process therein.
SECTION 2. The Chief of Police
shall appoint, subject to the approval
of said City Council of said City, one
or more patrolmen, which offices are
hereby created. The compensation of
such patrolmen shall be One Hundred
Thirty-five ($135.00) Dollars per
month for the first six months that
they are continually employed as such
patrolmen, One Hundred Forty-five
t$145.00) Dollars per month for the
second six months of continuous em-
p.oyment, One Hundred Fifty-five
�$1a5.00) Dollars per month for the
third six months of continuous em-
ployment, and thereafter, One Hundred
Sixty ($100.00) Dollars per month for
,ach month of continuous employment;
provided that one or more patrolmen
so appointed shall, subject to the ap-
proval of said City Council, serve as
traffic officer of said City, and the
compensation of each such patrolmen
acting as such traffic officer shall be
O, -.e Hundred Eighty-five ($185.00) Dol-
lars per month for all services to be
hereafter rendered by him. And, in ad -
f clition thereto, the Chief of Police may,
at any time, and subject to the ap-
proval of the City Council of said City,
appoint one or more patrolmen, which
offices are hereby created, and who
shall, under the -direction and control
of the Chief of Police of said City, serve
without receiving any compensation
from said city.
(a) The period of time any patrol-
ican shall have been continuously em-
piuyed prior to the enactment of this
Ordinance shall be computed in determ-
ining the amount of compensation to
be paid such patrolmen as are now
employed by said City, under this
Ordinance.
The Chief of Police shall appoint,
with the approval of the City Council,
one patrolman to act as Tax Collector,
whose compensation is hereby fixed at
One Hundred Thirty-five ($135.00) Dol-
lars per month.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts
of ordinances in conflict with the pro-
visions of this Ordinance are hereby
rep_aled.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk of the
City of Anaheim shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance, and cause
the same to be published once in the
Anaheim Gazette ,a weekly newspaper
of general circulation, printed, publish -
id and circulated in the City of Ana-
heim and from and after its final pas-
sage, it shall take effect and be in full
force.

OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS -01
SECTION 1. The compensation of the Chief of Police and ex -
officio tax and license collector, is hereby fixed at Two Hundred
Fifty ($250.00) Dollars per month, payable monthly, which compen-
sation shall be in full for all services now, or which may be
hereafter required by him by any law of the State of California,
or by any Ordinance or Resolution of the City Council of said City,
now in effect, or which may hereafter be enacted or adopted.
Nothing in this section, however, shall be construed to prohibit
the Chief of Police from demanding and receiving such compensation
as may be allowed by law for services rendered for serving procesE
from the Superior Court of Justice's Court, in the State of
California, or from collecting from parties to Civil actions any
lawful fees for the service of process therein.
SECTION 2. The Chief of Police shall appoint, subject to t

which offices are hereby created. The compensation of such
