Golf 2010/09/23 GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES September 23, 2010–5:00 p.m. Anaheim Hills Golf Course –Clubhouse Boardroom COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Don Heinbuch Vice Chairman John McCulloch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner Bud Schultz Commissioner Skip Keys CITY STAFF PRESENT: Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns and Gail Barruga VALLEY CREST PRESENT: Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent CALL TO ORDER Vice Chairman John McCullochcalled the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS -None to report. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Schultzmade a Motion to approve the August 26, 2010Minutes. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Skip Keys. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A.Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented hisreportand stated: Bid opening for the golf course maintenance contract at both facilities will be mid- October Tee times for both golf courses cannow be booked through golfnow.com Men’s restroom at Anaheim Hills Golf Course was painted, new flooring was installed andthesink and trash can will be refurbishedshortly Commissioner Schultz questioned the status of the GPS system. Commissioner Schultz stated the front and back markings for the greens are not showing on the GPS. Michael Lautenbach stated the GPS system will be looked at. Commissioner Schultz stated Prolink GPS is alsoused at Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach, CA and their system shows yardages to the pin instead of the middle of the green. Michael Lautenbach stated hewill look into it. B.Golf Course Superintendent Dave Johansen presented his report and stated: The first stage of moving the power lines underground at Dad Miller Golf Course began –three vaults were put in andchannels were dug for the necessary conduits The bunker on hole#11 at Dad Miller Golf Coursewas redone The next stages of moving the power lines underground will resume –wires will be pulled from the conduit and a pole will be installed Golf Commission Minutes September 23, 2010 Page Two C.Director of Golf–Noneto report FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated rounds and revenues arestilldown at both golf courses. OLD BUSINESS Commissioner Schultz stated he discussed the issue of the Anaheim Hills Golf Course Starting Holes Switch and two 9-hole courses with the clubboard and there is no problem with having two 9-hole courses. Michael Lautenbach stated staff is currently working on the handicapping of 18 holes. Commissioner Schultz stated Anaheim Hills Golf Course is not properly marked. Bob Johns stated staff isavailable to schedule a walk-through of the golf course with club members to accurately mark the golf course. NEW BUSINESS –None to report ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Keysmade a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Schultz, to adjourn the meeting to October 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:36 p.m.
