1.CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Cultural and Heritage Commission was called to order by Chair
Larsen at 6:43p.m.
2.SCHEDULED PRESENTATION: Jonathan Borrego, Planning Department, agreed to reschedule to next
meeting due to low attendance.
3.UNSCHEDULED PUBLICCOMMUNICATION:None.
4.APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Jabbarmade a motion to approve the minutes for the November18,
2010 meeting; Commissioner Castillomade a second and the motion passed.
5.GALLERIESSUBCOMMITTEE: Chair Larsen commented on the success of the Downtown Community Center
Gallery“Life in Orange County” exhibit.The upcoming “Our Creative Journey” exhibit will open on February 12,
2011,and will feature works by members of the Surface Art Association. Commissioner Castillo reported on the
planning for the upcoming ‘Art Crawl Experience’ which is an extension of the February 12 gallery opening. The
event is a cooperative effort between the City of Anaheim, Cultural and Heritage Commission, Downtown
Anaheim Association, Anaheim Arts Council, and Anaheim Redevelopment Agency. Event participants and
activities include the Rothick Art Haus, Sara Bain Gallery, Muzeo, Promenade Gallery, Downtown Community
Center Gallery, DKooi Studio, AAA Electra 99 Gallery, YMCA Art Auction Preview at Café Amore, Live Art and
Music at the 195 Bar and Grill, food trucks, and an indie arts and crafts fair. Commissioner Castilloreported that
the committee still needs performance artistsfor the event.Peter Comiskey will be coordinating use of the
Anaheim Resort “ART” shuttles for the event. CA Yellow Cab is now an additional sponsorand providing
promotionthrough distribution of the event flyer. OC Weekly is co-sponsoring, with an increased Ad size and
event banners. Commissioner Castillo also reportedthat Chorbagian will be exhibiting at the Promenade
Gallery. Commissioner Castillorequested that staff send her the art images being used for the “Our Creative
Journey” exhibitopening invitation and from the Chorbagian file. Commission Jabbar asked staff to report back
to him if an application has beenreceived from a group of Sri Lankan artists for a future show in the DTCC
Gallery.
6.EVENTS SUB-COMMITTTEE: Chair Larsen announced that the “Art Crawl Experience” events will be held
quarterly and the next event is set for May 14, 2011.
7.ART FACILITIES SUBCOMMITTEE: No Report.
8.INFORMATION ITEMS:
A.Commissioner Benedict: Commissioner Benedict reported that she forwarded the Downtown Anaheim
Association’s “Art Crawl Experience” press release to her publicist.

E.Commissioner Jabbar:Commissioner Jabbar stated that he regrets he has been unable to attend the
recent subcommittee meetings.
F.Chair Larsen:Chair Larsen reported that she and Carol Latham planned to attend the Anaheim City
Council meeting on January 19, 2011, to announce the “Art Crawl Experience,” however the next meeting
will actually be on January 25, 2011, and they plan to attend and speak during the Public Comment portion
or the meeting. Chair Larsen also reported that the Haskett Library will be unveiling a muralcommissioned
by the Anaheim YMCA honoring former Mayor Curt Pringle and his wife Alexis.The mural was byartist
Jenny Voznesensky.
G.Vice-ChairMaya:Vice-Chair Maya was absent.
H.Staff:No additional comments.
9.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, February17, 2011,at 6:30 p.m. at the
Downtown Community Center, 250 E. Center Street, Anaheim.
