CALL TO ORDER -The agenda having been posted at11:00 a.m. onApril 5, 2011,the regular meeting of

I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS
A.FRIENDS OF THEANAHEIM PUBLICLIBRARY REPORT: Donations were made in memo-
riam of Friends’ Member Joan Hamilton in the amount of $145.00. The Friends voted to fund the
cost of having the current Anaheim City Council Members photographed with their favorite book
to be posted in the Library to promote reading. Board Members enjoyed both the CommunitySer-
vices Volunteer Recognition Luncheon where they received an award and the Anaheim Public Li-
brary Foundation’s Mystery Authors Luncheon. Donations are still neededfor the Book Nook.
B.FRIENDS OF THECANYON HILLS LIBRARY REPORT:Bruce reported that the Friendsat-
tended the Community Services Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and also received an award.
They also bought two tables at the Anaheim Public Library Foundation’s Mystery Authors Lun-
cheon. The Winter/Spring Newsletters have been mailed out.A committee is working on the
Friends’ annual volunteer dinner in December.
C.FOUNDATION REPORT: Carol thanked the Board on behalf of the Foundation for their support
of the Mystery AuthorsLuncheon on Sunday, April 3, 2011.
D.UNSCHEDULEDORAL COMMUNICATION: Carolyn Thomas welcomed the Board to the East
Anaheim Library. Two part-time employees that work at East Anaheim won City-wide raffles for
tickets to sporting events. Carolyn shared a patron comment form complimenting the Library and
acknowledged the work of the part-time employees. Kudos were given to Mary Nuttelman for her
work to make the part-time employees that rotate between both Canyon Library and East Anaheim
Library feel welcome.

II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A.APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 14, 2011
MOTION:That the Board approved the minutes of the February 14, 2011meeting as
presented.M/S CB/LB 3Ayes
B.APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 14, 2011: The minutes from the March 14,
2011meeting were carried over for approval to the Maymeeting due to lack of voting eligible
Board Members.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None
A.POLICY –CAROL STONE: Carol presented the Donation of Books, Magazines, and Media with
the revisions the Board discussed at the March meeting.
MOTION: That the Library Board approve the Donation of Books, Magazines and Me-
dia Guidelines as presented. M/S CB/LB 3 Ayes
IV.NEW BUSINESS

V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN REPORT -Carol shared that the Utilities Department is sponsoring an Anti-
Litter Poster Contest with the Library and acknowledged the continuing support from the Utilities
Department. Carol informed the Board of the agreement reached between the City and the AMEA
and that while work hours for full-time AMEA represented employees will be reduced, the Li-
brary’s and other city facilities’ hours will not.

VI.ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.CENTRAL ADULT & YOUTH SERVICES ACTIVITIES & STATISTICS: Central’s circulation
statistics have more than doubled since returning to one facility.

VII.RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT
A.RECOGNITION OFSUPPORT BYBOARD MEMBERS:Linell shared the letter written to Bob
Gardner, Ponderosa School Principal for his support of the Joint Library and for his passion forthe
community. Carolynacknowledged the generous donation made to the Anaheim Public Library
Foundations Mystery Authors Luncheon Silent Auction by the Anaheim Police Department.
B.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT CERTIFICATE: None.
VIII.BOARD ITEMS
LANA BARLOW:Shared that her son visited the Library and said it was one of the best libraries
he had ever been in, complimenting the staff and saying it was very user friendly. Lana also at-
tended the Mystery Authors Luncheon.
CAROLYN BRYANT: Attended the Mystery Authors Luncheon and had a wonderfultime.
LINELL MATHISEN, CHAIR: Enjoyed the Mystery Authors Luncheon.
IX.MISCELLANEOUS
A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Central Library.
B.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Linell Mathisen adjourned the meeting at 7:31p.m.
