RESOLUTION OF THE CIY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
APPROVING A Lm~ ~ER OF UNDERSTANDING BETVVEEN THE
ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTER$ A$$OGIATION, LOGAL NO. 28gg,
AND THE GITY OF ANAHEIM REGARDING ARTICLE 61
(PERMANENT LIGHT DUTY PROGRAM) OF THE
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING.
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Director met and conferred with officials and
employee representatives of the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 regarding
ARTIOLE 61 (PERMANENT LIGHT DUTY PROGRAM) of the Memorandum of Understanding;
and
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 is in agreement with
the recommendations contained in said Letter of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated luly 20, 2001 between
the parties has been prepared and signed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is the best interest of
the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that
said Letter of Understanding dated July 20, 2001, between the Anaheim Firefighters Association,
Local No. 2899, and the City of Anaheim, copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by
reference herein, is hereby approved.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Anaheim the 24th day of July, 2001.

between the
ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, Local No. 2899
and the
CITY OF ANAHEIM
The City of Anaheim ("CITY'9 and the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899,
("AFA'9 have met and conferred and have reached an Agreement with regard to Article 61 of the
Memorandum of Understanding (Permanent Liqht Duty Proqram). The Parties agree that the
provision of Article 61 of the Memorandum of Understanding shall be suspended effective July 1,
2001.
The Parties further agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Individuals assigned to the Permanent Ught Duty Program as of,lune 30, 2001 shall be provided a
one-time opportunity to elect to continue their Permanent Light Duty Program assignment under
the provisions of Article 61. Such election shall be made, in writing, on or before July 31, 2001.
2. Individuals who do not elect to continue their Permanent Ught Duty Program assignment shall
submit an irrevocable application for PERS industrial disability retirement to be effective on or
before March 1, 2002. Such individuals will be allowed to continue in their current assignments
up to their scheduled date of retirement.
3. The Parties agree that, at the conclusion of the period July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2006, CITY
may, at its sole discretion, activate the provisions of Article 61 by providing the AFA with a
minimum of thirty (30) days notice.
4. This Letter of Understanding shall only be effective if two or fewer of the individuals eligible to
make an election under paragraph i above elect to continue their Permanent Light Duty
Assignment.
