CALL TO ORDER–Chairman Crawfordcalled the meeting to order at 5.35p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE–Chairman Crawfordled the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATIONS-Pamela Galera introduced James Vanderbilt of
Anaheim City School District.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES–Chairman Crawfordpresented the November 30, 2011 Minutes to the
Commissioners forchanges or corrections. There being none, Chairman Crawfordaccepted the minutes as
presented.
ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.Recreation and Human ServicesActivity Report-October/November 2011–Lynn Smithpresented the report
and answered questions regarding the “Thanks for all you do!” Recognition Event that will be held on March
29, 2012 at the City National Groveof Anaheim; meetings held at Brookhurst Community Center; events held
atPearson Park Amphitheatre;Senior Programsheld at different senior centers;volunteers for the
“Spooktacular Bash Halloween Dance;” and the Translation & Assistance with Completion of Forms service
held at Family Resource Centers.
Lynn Smith stated the “Thanks for all you do!” Recognition Event is funded through donations given by local
organizations. Lynn stated staff received donations totaling $20,000to pay for the event.
B.Recreation and Human Services Park Ranger Report–Lynn Smith presented the report and answered
questions from the commissioners regarding Park Ranger statistics.
C.Parks Activity Report-November/December 2011–Larry Pasco presented the report and answered
questions regarding the development of a dog park onthe Southern California Edison property located at
Cerritos Avenue and State College Boulevard; installation of exercise machines at city parks; and vandalism
of park trees.
Larry Pasco stated cost savings through privatization of the parksmaintenance and tree trimmingoperations
has allowed an additional $60,000 to be added to the park tree trimming budget to total $100,000 for the
current fiscal year.

D.Parks Capital Project Progress Report–Pamela Galera presented the report and provided updates on the
following projects:
SCE Dog Park –Staff is working withSCE regarding the property on Cerritos Avenue and State College
Boulevard.
Dog Park at Olive Hills Park –Staff continues to developMaster Plan.
Anaheim Outdoors –Staff will schedule focus meetings with OCWD, Railroad, Disney, Kaiser, Orange
County Health Care Agency, etc.
E.Senior Citizen Sub-Committee Report-Commissioner Huitt reportedseniors were asked to sign petitions
regarding the cancellation of senior classes held by Emeritus.
Commissioner Huitt stated that interest has been expressed by seniors in thecommunity, tohave exercise
equipment installed at city parks.Larry Pasco indicated that Parks staff has recently investigated installing
exercise equipment at various parks and that further consideration will be given and possible installations
may take place pending available funding.
NEW BUSINESS-None
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS-Vice Chair Manes announced award ceremonies honoring Anaheim City Educators
and Community Service Youth; the Anaheim Beautiful Tree Ceremony at Founders’ Park; and two Anaheim
recipients of the Cypress Americana Award.
