CALL TO ORDER–Chairman Crawfordcalled the meeting to order at 5.31p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE–Chairman Crawfordled the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATIONS–Madeline Jensenintroduced herself as President
of the Anaheim Seniors Club.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES–Chairman Crawfordpresented the February 22,2012Minutes to the
Commissioners forchanges or corrections. There being none, Chairman Crawford accepted the minutes as
presented.
ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.ParksActivity Report-January/February–Larry Pascopresented the reportand answered questions
regarding the benches donated by Disney and the volunteer tree planting event at Willow Park.
Commission Huitt requested “No Smoking” signs be installed at Pioneer Park near the playground. Larry
Pasco stated signs have been ordered and will be installed at Pioneer and Twila Reid parkswithin the next
45 days.
B.Recreation and Human Services Park Ranger Report–Lynn Smith presented the report and answered
questions regarding the high number of occurrences of dogs off the leash.
C.Parks Capital Project Progress Report–Larry Pascopresented the report and answered questions regarding
Community Gardens and provided updates on the following projects:
Cerritos Property Acquisition–Staff awaiting notification of grant status.Property is currently in escrow
by a private buyer,but if grant is awarded there maybe a possibility to negotiate and purchase the
property from new owner.
Colony Park–Colony Park received an Award of Excellence for Park Planning by the California Parks
and Recreation Society.
Ponderosa Community Center and Gymnasium–Staff awaiting notification of grant status.
SCE Dog Park–Master Plan is close to being finalized.

Stoddard Park Play Area Improvements–KaBOOM! Inc. contacted City staff to installnew play
equipment. Disney will be the funding partner and the Anaheim Family YMCA will be the community
partner for this project. The “Build Day” is scheduled for May 12, 2012.
D.Senior Citizen Sub-Committee Report–Commissioner Huitt reported the following:
The Senior Summit for the 4District will be held on June 9, 2012 at California State University,

Fullerton;
The Downtown Anaheim Community Center willbe closed the first two weeks of April and fitness classes
will be held at the Downtown Anaheim Youth Center;
A new program called “Options Counseling” is looking for senior centerslocationsto present andoffer
their new program.The program is under the County of Orange, Office of Aging.
NEW BUSINESS–None
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS–Lynn Smith reported the annual Volunteer Luncheon will be held on Thursday,
March 29, 2012 at the City National Grove of Anaheim.
Vice Chair Manes statedshe met with MayorTom Tait regarding the Parks & Recreation Commission.
Chair Crawford stated local neighbors are willing to help improve the cactus garden at Pearson Park.
Vice Chair Manes announcedthe following:
Paint Your Heart Out is looking for homes to paint in May;
Easter Basket Drive is currently going on;
Egg Huntsponsored by the Anaheim Rotary Clubis scheduledfor March 31, 2012 at Ronald Reagan
Park;
Children’s Festival is scheduled for May 19, 2012 in downtown Anaheim;
Nominations for the Annie AccoladesCommunity Service Award can still be made;
YMCA Breakfast will be held on April 6, 2012 and the guest speaker is the CEO and founder of
KaBOOM! Inc.;
Ponderosa Park Certified Farmers Market willopenApril 24, 2012 and will be open on Tuesdays from
11:00 a.m. –3:00 p.m.
