1.CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Cultural and Heritage Commission was called to order by Chair
Larsen at 6:43p.m.
2.SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: Brad Hobson, Deputy Community DevelopmentDirector,and Saheen
Sadeghi,Owner ofLab Holding, LLC,presented an update on the status of the Downtown Anaheim artworks
located along Center Street Promenade which is currently undergoing a revitalization project. Heclarified that
the majority of the art installations were financed and are held privately.The discussion ended with a mutual
agreement for the Commissioners to be includedin discussions of any future changes.
3.UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: David Diaz, Vice Chair of the Central District Neighborhood
Council,spoke regarding the presentation on the Downtown Anaheim artworks.
4.CORRESPONDENCE: Invitation from the Anaheim Arts Council to their upcoming Soirée on May 3, 2012; and
the May 2012 issue of the Anaheim Art Association newsletter.
5.APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Deneaumade a motion to approve the minutes for the March 15,
2012 meeting; Vice-Chair Maya made a second and the motion passed.
6.GALLERIES SUBCOMMITTEE: Chair Larsen reported she is continuing to recruit artists to exhibit at the Center
Gallery.
7.EVENTS SUB-COMMITTTEE: Vice-Chair Maya reported on the upcoming Art Crawl Experience (ACE) on
May 12, 2012,and Historic Home, Garden, and Brewery Tour being hosted by the Anaheim Neighborhood
Association on May 26 and 27, 2012.
8.ART FACILITIES SUBCOMMITTEE: Commissioner Deneau reported that the Commissioners will be setting
meetings to informally discuss the ‘Report on Cultural Facilities in the City of Anaheim’with City Council
members.

D.Commissioner Jabbar: Commissioner Jabbar reported on the upcoming Sri Lankan event at Pearson Park
on Sunday, April 22, 2012, Children’s Day at Ponderosa Park on Sunday, April 29, 2012, and the West
Anaheim BBQ at Twila Reid Park on Saturday, May 12.

E.Chair Larsen: Chair Larsen invited the Commissioners to the Inaugural Ceremony for the cultural exhibit at
Horace Mann Elementary School on May 23, 2012. Chair Larsen also reported that the award
presentations for the MUZEO’s TrashARTist Earth Day Expowill be this coming Saturday, April 21, 2012.

G.Commissioner Roditis:No report.
H.Staff:Heritage Services Manager Jane Newell reported on the popularity of Founders’ Park for many
special community and private events and shared the busy spring schedule. Jane also reported on the
‘Living Treasure’ program in Santa Fe, New Mexico.Community Services Superintendent Cathy Glasgow
provided copies of the Anaheim Recognition Luncheon program and volunteer awardee pin to the
commissioners who were not able to attend the event. Cathy reported on the suggestion by the Downtown
Association that the commission add ‘Anaheim’ to their logo.She also reported on a recentCity arts
program survey conducted by Arts Orange County and the possibility of an upcoming ‘convening’ for those
who oversee City Arts Programs.
10.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May17, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown
Anaheim Community Center, 250 E. Center Street, Anaheim.
11.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Larsen adjourned the meeting at 8:37p.m.
