AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEI ?.'I AMENDING
ARTICLE IV, CHAPTER 2, PART 6, SECTION 4293 - (a)
OF THE ANAHEIM LWNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO
SW 11%1 ZING POOLS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS
SECTI 1 .
That Article IV, Chapter 2, Part 6, Section 4293 -(a)
of the Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby,
amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 4293. SWJ1wING POOLS. PROTECTIVE DEVICES
REQUIRED.
"(a) Fences All swimming pools, fish ponds and other
bodies of water located on private property as
hereinafter described, having water therein more
than 18 inches in depth at any point, shall be
completely enclosed by a fence or wail so con-
structed as to maKe such body of water inaccess-
ible to small children. A dwelling, accessory
building or other similar structure may be used
as part of such enclosure.
"(1) :Residential, For pools located on the fol-
lowing designated properties:
Single- Family Residential,
Two - Family Residential;
k1lultiple- Farr:ily Rasid ?ntial; or
Any other property wh}ch, because of
its location, nature or other circum-
stances, creates, in the opinion of
the City Council, a hazard or danger
to small children,
such fence or wall shall conform to the follow-
ing requirement:
The fence or wall, including gates therein,
shall be not less than 5 feet above the under-
lying ground. All gates must be self - latching
with latches placed `_> feet above the under-
lying ground or otherwise made inaccessible
from th outside to small children, and shall
be securely closed at all times when not in
actual use.
"(P) Commercial. For pools located on the prop -
erty of hotels, motels, au' .o or trailer courts, and
other similar businesses, such fence or wall, in-
cluding gates therein, shall be not les7 than
inches above tha underlying around. All rates
must be self- latching with latches placed 5

The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Gazette
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circu—
lated in the City of Anaheim, and thirty (30) days from and after
its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force®
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
this 10th day of September, 1958.
