CALL TO ORDER - The agenda having been posted at 11:00 a.m. on March 5, 2013, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Crawford at 6:35 p.m.

I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: Helen reported that the Friends have
purchased a table for the Anaheim Public Library Foundation’s Mystery Authors Luncheon. On March 25,
the Library will be unveiling the plaque honoring Helma Nagamatsu in the Friends Book Nook at Central
Library. Bonne Stevens will receive the award from the Community Services Department at the Volunteer
Recognition Luncheon. The award will be displayed at the Friends Book Nook at Central Library. Lori
Shensky did a beautiful job on the ½ page ad for the Friends in the Anaheim Public Library Foundation’s
Mystery Authors Luncheon program that included a tribute to Helma Nagamatsu.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY REPORT: Bruce shared that they have purchased two
tables for the Anaheim Public Library Foundation’s Mystery Authors Luncheon. The Friends of the
Canyon Hills Library will hold a book sale April 22-26, 2013. Bruce invited the Board to attend their
March 21, 2013 meeting where Pamela Galera will be presenting on the Canyon park project.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation’s Annual Mystery Authors
Luncheon will be March 17, 2013 at the Sheraton Park Hotel. Over 290 tickets have been sold for the
event. They will be selling Champion of the Arts tickets in support of Chris Maya, a partnership with the
Anaheim Arts Council. The Foundation has added the Ponderosa Joint-Use Library to their Change for
Changes matching donation program.

V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Staff will be submitting two grants for consideration to the Anaheim Arts Council.
The Library is working to reorganize the current Organizational Structure for full-time staff.
Administration met with all full-time Library staff by classification to determine what full-time position
was most needed in the organization. It was determined that a Librarian position was most needed,
followed very closely by a Senior Library Clerk position. As a result, the Library will be submitting a
supplemental budget request to restore a full-time Librarian position.
Audrey invited the Library Board to attend the Library Division Meeting’s Communication Workshop
to facilitate a focus group.
Audrey shared the Library Performance Budget Indicators with the Library Board.
Audrey attended the Public Library Director’s Forum. Topics included marketing and parcel taxes.
Staff is pursuing funds to have a Technology Petting Zoo/gadget workshop over the summer.

C.BRANCH SERVICES: Audrey highlighted the Nowrooz Cultural Program celebrating the Persian New
Year at the Canyon Hills Branch Library on Saturday, March 16.
VII.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The Board
recognized Helma Nagamatsu, posthumously for her 37 years of volunteer service and Dr. Roberto Baeza for
his service on the Library Board.
VIII.BOARD ITEMS
CAROLYN BRYANT – Attended the Celebration of Life for Helma Nagamatsu and plans to attend the
Anaheim Public Library Foundation’s Mystery Author Luncheon.
LINELL MATHISEN – Shared that a friend of hers did not receive the help she needed from the Digital
Bookmobile at the Farmers’ Market. Linell will refer her friend to Library staff for assistance.
LANA PETRULLO – None.
LAURIE CRAWFORD, CHAIR – Attended the Colony Potluck and announced the Anaheim Public
Library Foundation’s Mystery Author Luncheon. Laurie visited the Children’s Room at the Central Library
on a Saturday and noticed that all the computers were all in use.

A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Monday, April 8, 2013 at the East Anaheim Library.
