1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Cultural and Heritage Commission was called to order by Chair
Larsen at 6:39 p.m.
2. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION:
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: Jane Newell introduced Cynthia Ward, who is a volunteer
docent at the Mother Colony House and Woelke-Stoffel House. She explained that Cynthia is also an expert in
historic preservation and previously advised with the restoration project in the foyer so they have once again
asked for her help with updating the sitting room and dining room. Cynthia shared colors and wall coverings
that she had picked out for those areas and asked the Commissioners if they approved; they unanimously said
they did.
4. CORRESPONDENCE: None.
5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Deneau made a motion to approve the minutes for the May 16,
2013 meeting; Commissioner Castillo made a second and the motion passed.
6. GALLERIES SUBCOMMITTEE: Chair Larsen noted that the Service Art Association was inquiring about dates
for the upcoming install and de-install and Jan stated she will follow up with them. Jan also mentioned that
although they have been making phone calls, there is still no artist scheduled for August. Commissioner
Deneau suggested that Chair Larsen and Vice-Chair Maya could do a joint show. Chair Larsen said that she
would be willing to do that; she will check with Vice-Chair Maya to see if he would like to participate.
7. ART FACILITIES SUBCOMMITTEE: Commissioner Deneau noted that they are waiting for Janis to schedule
tours of Cerritos Performing Arts Center and the Curtis Theatre in Brea following the appointment of the new
Commissioners. Jane noted that City Council postponed the appointments of new Commissioners and will they
make them in July.
8. INFORMATION ITEMS:
A. Commissioner Benedict: Commissioner Benedict was absent.
B. Commissioner Castillo: Commissioner Castillo reported that she attended the Historical Society meeting
and will be helping them out with the parade; they are looking for artists to participate in building/decorate
puppets and lanterns.
C. Commissioner Deneau: No report.
D. Chair Larsen: Chair Larsen reported that Newport has reportedly lost some of their artwork, so Anaheim
been donated to the city years ago, she was able to find a different painting in the museum that she had

addition, she brought in Zaradichabout
haunted houses in Anaheim for purchase if anyone was interested.
E. Vice-Chair Maya: Vice-Chair Maya was absent.
F. Commissioner Roditis: Commissioner Roditis was absent.
G. Commissioner Romero: Commissioner Romero noted that he has been taking photographs of the
Community Gardens in the East and West. He also asked about the video he gave to Chair Larsen of the
Art Crawl; she noted that she gave that to Janis at the last meeting. Commissioner Castillo stated it would
be nice to have that posted on the Facebook page.
H. Staff: Jane reported that the Mills Act Presentations took place at the June 11th City Council meeting; so
far this year she has received 14 applications. In addition, she reported that the woodwork refinishing at
the Woelke-Stoffel House will begin on July 15, and two interns from Valencia High School are working on
on the Digital Anaheim
project.
Jan presented Chair Larsen with a token of appreciation for her years of service on the Cultural & Heritage
Commission
either and she will be missed on the Commission.
