Agenda Posting: A complete copy of the Anaheim Sister City Commission Agenda was posted
at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Anaheim City Hall.
Public Input: Chairman Nguyen explained that members of the public are invited to address the
Anaheim Sister City Commission and will be called upon under Agenda Item No. V. Public
Comment.
I.CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Anaheim Sister City Commission (ASCC) was called to order
at 4:04 p.m. on Monday, November 25
th
Office, City Hall, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., 7 Floor, Anaheim, California.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION: Commissioner Pat Pina offered a Motion, seconded by Commissioner
Ann Gallagher AND MOTION CARRIED (Vote: 9-0; Absent: Debbie Juliani,
Jennifer Vaughn, Linda Newby, Anthony Al-Jamie, Mark Lopez and Russell
Lahodny) that the Anaheim Sister City Commission does hereby approve the
minutes from the ASC Commission meeting held on October 28, 2013 as
presented.

III.
Commissioner Leonard submitted a two-
a Summary Income Statement dated November 19, 2013 and a rough draft of the
2013 ASCC Fall Fundraiser. Commissioner Leonard noted that the current
account balance is $17,907.26. Further, Commissioner Leonard was happy to
report that additional donations were received for the fundraiser held on
October 24 and that the event made about $1,600.00.
Commissioner Piercy asked if all the commissioners had made the $120 donation
towards the fundraiser that was agreed upon at the September 23 Sister City
Commission meeting and Commissioner Leonard confirmed that yes each
commissioner had contributed the agreed amount.

Commission meeting.
Commissioner Pina asked if the Commission is limited to the number or types of
fundraisers they can have a year and Chairman Nguyen clarified that no, there is
no limit and that they can have any type of fundraisers as long as they had a
committee in place to head it. Commissioner Pina suggested having an annual
gala and to do more advertising to raise additional funds and awareness.
MOTION: Commissioner Anna Piercy offered a Motion, seconded by
Commissioner AND MOTION CARRIED (Vote: 10-0; Absent:
Jennifer Vaughn, Debbie Juliani, Mark Lopez, Linda Newby and Russell
Lahodny) that the Anaheim Sister City Commission does hereby approve the
dated November 19, 2013.

V.PUBLIC COMMENT
None
VI.COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Commissioner Piercy reported she had trouble accessing the Anaheim Sister City
Commission website from the Anaheim City website. She indicated it was
nowhere to be found. After many attempts she finally got to it but asked if there
was an easier way to find it.

Erin Wahlen will contact EDS to have the text search refined so that Sister City
Commission is added to the search engine and it will make it easier to be directed
to the ASCC website.
the Sister City Commission could be added to the homepage of anaheim.net. Erin
Wahlen explained that space is a premium and limited on the homepage and will
work with interested commissioners to update the current web pages and increase
their effectiveness.
Commissioner Piercy asked if it was anticipated that Anaheim would be sending
students to Mito this year [2014] for the outbound Mito Student Exchange. After
further discussion, it was determined that Mito is still not in the position to
receive students and that the next outbound Mito Student Exchange would be
planned for 2015.
Commissioner Filbeck asked if it was too soon to advertise for host families for
next year. Erin Wahlen replied the fall issue of Anaheim magazine includes an
inbound Mito Student Exchange and she plans to advertise
for host families on the Anaheim winter issue and also advised that the dates for
inbound Mito Student Exchange would need to be confirmed by early
2014.
Chairman Nguyen asked if there was an us recognition and
Erin Wahlen replied there was no update at this time.
Chairman Nguyen announced that Commissioner Jennifer Vaughn is resigning
from the Commission due to personal commitments and that her vacancy will
need to be filled for the remainder of her term. He asked that if Commissioners
know someone who would be a strong candidate for the position, to invite them to
pick up and submit an application at
Erin Wahlen stated that she asked for a copy of Commissioner Vaughn
resignation letter that will go on file with the . Once the
vacancy is open for a specified period, the Clerk will agendize the appointment of
a replacement at an upcoming City Council meeting.

A question was raised regarding the replacement of Commissioner Vaughn on the
Sister City Commission Ad Hoc Subcommittees. It was agreed that the list of
Adhoc subcommittees would be agendized and reviewed at the January 27, 2014
commission meeting.
