COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Manes, Vice Chairman Brennan, and Commissioners Lappin, Levy, Anderson,
and Jensen

CALL TO ORDER Chairman Manes called the meeting to order at 5:41 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Chairman Manes led the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS James Vanderbilt, a representative of Anaheim
City School District introduced himself.

B.Unscheduled Oral Communication from the Public None.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairman Manes presented the September 24, 2014 Minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Commissioner Lappin made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Vice Chairman Brennan.
There being no further additions or corrections, Chairman Manes accepted the Minutes with two abstentions from herself and
Commissioner Levy.
REPORTS
A.Recreation and Human Services August/September Sjany Larson-Cash presented the report and highlighted the Fun
on Wheels Mobile Recreation Afterschool Program and Family Fun Movie Night held at Downtown Anaheim Community
Center.
Chairman Manes questioned what neighborhoods are visited by the Fun on Wheels Mobile Recreation Afterschool
Program. Sjany Larson-Cash stated there are two (2) mobile units that make a weekly visit to ten (10) designated
neighborhoods. There is an average of 25-50 youth participating at each location.
Sjany reported the Anaheim Arts Association will no longer be utilizing the art display cases at Brookhurst Community
Center. A new exhibit is currently on display by the Gem and Minerals Society. Displayed art will be changed out every
quarter.
B.Park Ranger Patrol Statistics Report September: Sjany Larson-Cash presented the report and highlighted the high
number of alcohol occurrences at Pearson Park and that staff has been reporting occurrences to the Police Department.
C.Parks Capital Project Progress Report Pamela Galera presented the report, provided updates and reported on the
following projects and answered questions regarding grant funding:
Miraloma Project is in final stages of construction and will be completed this fall.
Paul Revere Park Project is in final stages of construction and will be completed this fall.
Sage Park Construction has begun and will be completed by spring 2015.
La Palma Park Dog Use Area Construction will begin the week of October 27.

Olive Hills Park Dog Use Area Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2015.

Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes

Commissioner Levy requested a status on outdoor equipment that will be installed outside of the Downtown Anaheim
Community Center. Pamela stated exercise equipment will be installed in January or February 2015 and staff will work
with the Public Works Department to complete the concrete work for this project.
D.Senior Citizen Sub-Committee Report None.

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS Chairman Manes reported the following:
The Traffic Calming Pilot Project ends in December.
Fall Festival is on October 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Anaheim (Center Street Promenade).

Tickets can be purchased for the Haunted House at the MUZEO.
Miss Fall Festival pageant was held on September 28.

District Neighborhood Council meetings are scheduled for October 22 and 23.
