A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM ESTABLISHING GUIDELINES REGARDING
LIGHTING OF ANAHEIM REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION
INTERMODAL CENTER
WHEREAS, one of the most distinguishing features of the 67,000 square foot Anaheim
Regional Transportation Intermodal Center ( "ARTIC ") is the LED lighting system which
provides the capability to display an array of colors through ARTIC's ETFE material after
sundown; and
WHEREAS, as a result, the requests to utilize this system to emphasize various events or
causes have increased; and
WHEREAS, to address this issue, staff is recommending creation of guidelines to provide
clarity on how to respond to and manage these requests; and
WHEREAS, these guidelines shall provide a priority list based upon different events and
causes; and
WHEREAS, all requests for lighting shall be administered by the Convention Center,
Sports and Entertainment Director or his /her designee in accordance with the proposed
guidelines.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of City of Anaheim does
hereby adopt the following guidelines regarding lighting of ARTIC:
A. It is the policy of the City Council that ARTIC will use its LED lighting system to
highlight sanctified events and recognitions through the use of specific colors using the
following guidelines in order of priority:
All Angels /Ducks home games
2. Nationally recognized holidays as follows:
New Year's Eve /Day- Multi -Color
MLK -Red, White & Blue
Valentine's Day -Red
President's Day -Red, White & Blue
St. Patrick's Day -Green
Memorial Day -Red, White & Blue
Easter - Pastel Multi -Color
Flag Day -Red, White & Blue
4th of July -Red, White & Blue
Labor Day -Red, White & Blue
Patriot's Day -Red, White & Blue
Columbus Day -Red, White & Blue
Halloween- Orange
Veteran's Day -Red, White & Blue
Thanksgiving -Fall Multi -Color
Christmas -Green & Red
Hanukkah -Blue
3. Groups leasing special event space will have the opportunity to select colors of
their choice if negotiated as part of their contracted event.
4. Non - profit awareness campaigns with nationally recognized "Light It Up" events
not to exceed one week in duration:
April- Autism Awareness - Blue
October - National Breast Cancer Awareness- Pink
November - National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness - Purple
B. All requests for lighting shall be administered by the Convention Center, Sports
and Entertainment Director or his /her designee in accordance with the above stated guidelines.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim this 2nd day of JUNE , 2015, by the following roll call vote:
