COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairman Brennan and Commissioners Anderson, Levy, and Jensen
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairman Manes, Commissioner Navarro and Farrow
STAFF PRESENT: Sjany Larson -Cash — Community Services Manager, Wendy Solorio, Community Services Supervisor,
Larry Pasco — Parks Manager, Eleanor Granflor — Sr. Secretary
CALL TO ORDER — Vice Chairman Brennan called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Vice Chairman Brennan led the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS
A. Written Communication — None.
B. Unscheduled Oral Communication from the Public — None.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES — Vice Chairman Brennan presented the May 27, 2015 Minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Commissioner Levy made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Jensen.
There being no further additions or corrections, Vice Chairman Brennan accepted the Minutes.
REPORTS
A. Recreation and Human Services Activity Report - April/May — Sjany Larson -Cash presented the report and highlighted the
expansion of the Fun on Wheels after-school program that will now visit each neighborhood twice a week, the Cinco de
Mayo Fiesta, the WAND Barbeque, Children's Art Festival, Circo Etereo Circus for the Family Series Opening night at
Pearson Park, and the opening of the water play zone at the new Miraloma Park and Family Resource Center.
Wendy Solorio highlighted the annual Cinco de Mayo Health and Resource Fair, the performance of the Provo Utah High
School Ballroom Dance Corp, and the Zumba Gold classes available at the East Anaheim Community Center.
Commissioner Jensen made a request for senior Zumba classes to be held at the Downtown Anaheim Community
Center. Wendy Solorio stated the Zumba Gold class held at East Anaheim Community Center is led by a volunteer who
resides in the area; staff is looking for a certified Zumba Gold instructor who can teach a class held at the Downtown
Anaheim Community Center.
B. Park Ranger Patrol Statistics Report — May: Sjany Larson -Cash presented the report and highlighted the decrease in
curfew, alcohol, and vendor activity.
Commissioner Levy questioned the status on the requested increase of patrol at Twila Reid Park at last month's meeting.
Sjany Larson -Cash stated a 'special detail' (increase of patrols) was requested of the Park Rangers.
C. Parks Capital Project Progress Report — Larry Pasco presented the report and provided updates on the following projects:
• Anaheim Coves Northern Extension — a community meeting will be held on July 151h at Rio Vista Elementary School
to discuss the next phase of the project.
• Anaheim Tennis Center — construction documents will be revised with new code requirements by the consultant.
• Olive Hills Dog Park — project bid opening is scheduled in July.
• Stoddard Restroom — construction has started to replace the restroom building.
Commissioner Levy questioned the status of the Downtown Anaheim Community Center exercise equipment project.
Larry Pasco stated the project bid opening is scheduled for July 2nd and the project is anticipated to begin in the fall.

D. Senior Citizen Sub -Committee Report — Commissioner Jensen reported the sidewalk curb on Center Street located in
front of the Downtown Anaheim Community Center (15 minute parking) is very high and requested for the height to be
checked. Staff will look into getting the curb checked.
Vice Chairman Brennan questioned if staff can escort senior citizens to their car. Wendy Solorio stated patrons can
contact staff at the front desk and can be escorted to their car.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Selection of Vice Chair — Vice Chairman Brennan opened nominations.
Commissioner Levy made a motion to nominate Samantha Navarro as the next Vice Chairman of the Parks and
Recreations Commission. Motion passed unanimously.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS — Larry Pasco thanked Vice Chairman Brennan for his 9 years of service to the Parks and
Recreation Commission. Vice Chairman Brennan thanked staff and the Commission for all the hard work over the years.
ADJOURNMENT — Vice Chairman Brennan adjourned the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
