A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF
POLICE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM,
TO FILE AN ELECTRONIC APPLICATION WITH
THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU
OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE FY 2003 "BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP"
GRANT PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF
TO EXECUTE ALL REQUIRED GRANT DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to participate in
a grant program designated "Bulletproof Vest Partnership," to be
funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, hereafter referred to as U.S. DOJ; and
WHEREAS, the "Bulletproof Vest Partnership" grant
program reimburses up to 50% of the costs (including tax and
shipping) to local law enforcement agencies for the purchase of
ballistic resistant vests for police officers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to submit an
application of the "Bulletproof Vest Partnership" Grant Program
for the purchase of uniform, SWAT and raid vests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit an
electronic application to the "Bulletproof Vest Partnership"
Grant Program for assistance with the purchase of uniform, SWAT
and raid vests for FY 2003, and to execute, on behalf of the City
of Anaheim, all required grant documents, including any
extensions and amendments thereof.
2. The City of Anaheim agrees to provide the 50% matching
funds of the overall grant award from the FY '02/03 Police
Department budget.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 18th day of June
2002.
