RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING TEMPORARY CLOSURES
TO CALTRANS I -5 OFFRAMPS FOR DISNEYLAND
HALF MARATHON
WHEREAS, the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend, is scheduled for
August 29 31, 2008; and
WHEREAS, 13,500 runners and walkers will participate in this 13.1 mile
course through the Disney theme parks and along City streets passing the Honda Center,
Angel Stadium, and Interstate 5 (I -5); and
WHEREAS, safety along the course will require an approximate four -hour
temporary closure of I -5 ramps at four locations; and
WHEREAS, traffic control plans have been prepared, and a certificate of
insurance has been prepared to the satisfaction of Caltrans; and
WHEREAS, the CITY and DISNEY agree to reimburse Caltrans for costs of
the traffic closures.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim that the City of Anaheim requests temporary closures of up to four hours on
August 31, 2008, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. at 1) southbound I -5 at Harbor Boulevard, 2)
southbound I -5 at Disney Way, 3) northbound I -5 at Katella Avenue, and 4) north and
southbound at Gene Autry Way.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Anaheim this12thday of August, 2008, by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Mayor Pringle, Council Members Hernandez, Sidhu, Galloway, Kring
