CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted at 11:00 a.m. on December 8, 2015, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Heywood at 6:32 p.m.

L INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends' annual meeting was held on
November 23, 2015. Rick Brown presented his photos from Africa. The Friends' book sale was held
December 5, 2015 and raised approximately $685.00. Thank you to Rick Brown for setting up and taking
down the book sale. The Friends approved $5,000 for furniture for the Euclid/Sunkist Renovation and an
additional $500.00 for the "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" program.
B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY REPORT: The Winter Book Sale is scheduled for
December 16-19, 2015. They will be selling vintage dolls, framed art, and other items in addition to books.
FOCAL is starting a scholarship program for textbooks to library volunteers. Canyon Hills Library hosted
Aline Ohanesian, author of Orhan's Inheritance on November 07, 2015. Her "book writing" story was
enjoyed by approximately 50 people. FOCAL assisted with providing some of the refreshments, setting
up, serving, and cleaning up. FOCAL members volunteered over 400 hours in September and October.
C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation is busy planning the 2016
Mystery Authors' Luncheon.
D. UNSCHEDULED ORAL COMMUNICATION: None.
E. WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
IL APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 14, 2015 MEETING: MOTION: That the Board
approve the minutes of the October 12, 2015 meeting as presented. M/S: LE/KS - 3 Ayes
III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. CHANGE TIME OF LIBRARY MEETINGS FROM 6:30 P.M. TO 5:00 P.M: The Board will change the
meeting time to 5:00 p.m. except where noted on the schedule for the East Region Libraries which will
start at 5:30 p.m. The intended end time of the meetings will be 6:30 p.m. MOTION: That the Library
Board change the time of the Library Board Meetings from 6:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the second
Monday of each month. M/S: MM/KS - 4 Ayes
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
A. LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING SCHEDULE: MOTION: That the Library Board
approve the Library Board of Trustees 2016 Meeting Schedule as presented. M/S MM/LE - 4 Ayes.

B. APPROVAL OF THE COMPUTER LAB CODE OF CONDUCT SIGNAGE: The signage is being revised
to include guidelines on cell phone usage. Motion: That the Library Board approve the Computer
Lab Code of Conduct Signage as presented. M/S: KS/MM — 4 Ayes
V. INFORMATION
A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
• The Anaheim Reads Kick -Off Event is January 30, 2016 from 4pm-6pm.
B. BUDGET: The budget kick-off meeting is January and staff has been preparing for the budget process.
C. PUBLICITY: Included in the packet.
D. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: The State Library is surveying libraries as to their needs.
VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS
A. CENTRAL ADULT & YOUTH SERVICES ACTIVITIES & STATISTICS: Included in packet.
B. OPERATIONS ACTIVITIES: Included in packet.
C. BRANCH SERVICES: Included in packet.
VII. MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The Board
recognized Edna Lope and Dan George of the City Networking Team for spending 13 hours on a Sunday at
Central Library. They spent the day replacing hardware and ensuring the connections to the Horizon system
was available to Placentia Library District that day as they are open on Sundays.
VIII. BOARD ITEMS
CHAIR DAVID ROBERT "DR." HEYWOOD: None.
LINDA ESPING: Enjoyed the Altrusa Creative Writing Contest ceremony on November 9th at Ponderosa
Elementary School.
MICHELLE MAJEWSKI: Students at Anaheim High School are being encouraged the use the Anaheim
Public Library's eBook and audio book collections. Anaheim High School students are doing a civic
engagement project and one of the targets will be the Anaheim Public Library.
VICE CHAIR, KENNETH SHIMOGAWA: Attended the "Legacy of Heart Mountain" program at Central
Library and was impressed with the program and how well attended it was.
IX. MISCELLANEOUS
A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be January 11, 2016 at Central Library.
B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Heywood adjourned the meeting at 7:52 p.m.
