A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, TO SUBMIT
AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, TO PARTICIPATE IN
ITS DUI GRANT OUTREACH PROGPJtM
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to participate in
a grant program, designated the "DUI Outreach" program, to be
funded by the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety,
hereafter referred to as "OTS"; and
WHEREAS, the ~DUI Outreach" grant program makes funds
available to law enforcement agencies for programs designed to
reduce alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to submit an
application for the "DUI Outreach" grant program to fund officer
overtime, equipment, and related expenses to conduct DUI
checkpoints, provide educational awareness to high school
students relating to the consequences of drinking and driving,
and other activities directed at repeat offenders.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit an
application for the "DUI Outreach" grant program for the
reduction of alcohol-related accidents, and to execute, on behalf
of the City of Anaheim, all required grant documents, including
any extensions and amendments thereof, under the program and
funding terms and conditions of the State of California, Office
of Traffic Safety ("OTS") .
2. The Police Department will work in partnership with the
Anaheim Union High School District for educational awareness, and
with the Orange County Probation Department for violations by
repeat offenders.
3. It is agreed that any liability arising out of the
performance of this grant award, including civil court actions
for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant recipient
and the authorizing agency. The State of California and OTS
disclaim responsibility for any such liability.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Anaheim this 29th day of 0¢tober, 2002.
