PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chair Cudd invited Board Member Kelso to lead the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS & PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Board Member Barnett made a motion to approve the September 15, 2016 meeting minutes; Board Member Leonard seconded the motion; the motion passed with six (6) ayes and four (4) abstentions from Chair Cudd and Board Members Beas, Farrow, and Pina. 6. NEW BUSINESS: None 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A. FY 2017/2018 CDBG Public Service Funding Process Preliminary Funding Recommendation: Joe informed Board Members that the amount of funding available to non -profits for FY2017/2018 is $292,980, the current amount allocated this fiscal year, and they will be recommending three levels of funding: (1) no change, (2) a 5% increase, and (3) a 5% decrease. Board Members reviewed each of the 21 applications received for consideration of funding and debated their merits. Meeting Calendar Joe stated that with the FY2017/2018 preliminary funding recommendation completed and no pending new business, the Board has the option to go dark in November and December. A motion to go dark in November and December of 2016 was made by Board Member Barnett and was seconded by Board Member Brio; the motion passed. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Joe informed the Board of the "Day of the Dead" event being held on Center Street Promenade in Downtown Anaheim in conjunction with the Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 29. Joe also handed out fliers for the event and encouraged the Board to attend and enjoy the live Mariachi band. Chair Cudd reported the Bowers Museum is presenting a new exhibit, "Virgin of Guadalupe." Board Member Kelso reported the completion of the Nixon Presidential Library's 15 million dollar renovation. Chair Cudd confirmed that the grand opening of the newly renovated library will be on Friday, October 14. Board Member Pina also added that the Nixon Presidential Library continues to hold concerts every Sunday. 9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Cudd adjourned the meeting at 6:44 p.m.
