AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Chair Beas.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Wilson led the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. CORRESPONDENCE: None.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Beas presented the June 8, 2017 Minutes to the Board Members for
changes or corrections. Board Member Leonard made a motion to approve the June 8, 2017 meeting minutes,
seconded by Board Member Farrow. The motion was approved unanimously, Chair Beas accepted the
minutes.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
a) FY 2017/2018 CDBG Public Service Funding Process: Joe Perez reported that the CDBG funding
allocation notification has been received and a 5% reduction in funding to public service agencies was
relayed by Community and Economic Development Department staff. Joe added that the entire funding
federal funding recommendation will be reviewed and discussed for approval at the Anaheim City Council
meeting on July 25. An informational memorandum was submitted to the City Manager and City Council
with the funding recommendations back in January. Once approved, the Community and Economic
Development Department will contact service agencies to notify them that they have been approved for
funding.
8. NEW BUSINESS:
a) FY2018/2019 CDBG Public Service Agency Funding Application Review: Joe Perez stated information has
not been received for FY2018/19 and thus the funding process is on hold until further notice. Joe Perez
provided the Board a copy of the FY2018/2019 CDBG Funding Application for their review and requested
any edits or changes be discussed at the next Board meeting.

Board Member Leonard questioned if the application can be submitted electronically by service agencies.
Joe Perez indicated that the application is in fact provided online and requested to be submitted
electronically. Joe added that a pre -application meeting is held by City staff to provide prospective
agencies with a review of the CDBG program guidelines and a review of the application and funding
process. Joe added that the CDBG funding application is posted online; on both the Community Services
and Community and Economic Development Department's home pages.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Joe Perez reported that the Community Services Department has embarked upon
a "Planning for Parks" survey project that is currently available for the community to complete. The goal is to
capture 10,000 to 15,000 surveys in order for city staff to receive input on the needs of our community parks.
The survey is available on the City's website and city staff, along with Project S.A.Y. youth program volunteers,
are currently attending various community events to invite individuals to complete the survey. Joe Perez
requested that Board members take the survey and help spread the word about the survey.
