AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Joe Perez called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Patricia Pina.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
Joe Perez introduced Brent Dennis, Community Services Director, and Sjany Larson -Cash, Community Services
Manager, to the members of the Senior Citizen Commission.
a) Selection of Chair: Joe Perez.asked the commissioners for nominations for the position of Chair. Gary Kellison
nominated Paul. Vicknair, who declined the nomination. Paul Vicknair nominated Gary Kellison. Michael Collins
nominated Pat Pina, who declined the nomination. Pat Pina nominated Harold Ramey. Hearing no further
nominations, Joe called for a vote on Harold Ramey's nomination; the vote was unanimous in favor. Harold Ramey
will be the Chair of the Commission.
b) Selection of Vice -Chair: Joe Perez asked Commissioners for nominations for the position of Vice -Chair. Michael
Collins stated he would be interested in the position. Gary Kellison nominated Paul Vicknair and Harold Ramey
nominated Gary Kellison. Joe Perez called for a vote for each nominated Commissioner; the Commission elected
Gary Kellison as Vice -Chair.
c) Staff Presentation — City of Anaheim Active Older Adult Programs: Wendy Solorio gave a presentation that covered
the various programs offered by the City of Anaheim's Community Services staff and collaborative partners. Joe
Perez also explained the efforts to provide programs that meet the needs to the widest number of residents possible.
Chair Ramey had a question regarding the next meeting date, and Joe Perez noted that the correct date is
January 18, as this Commission meets every other month. Pat Pina asked if the Commissioners could get contact
information for staff; Joe stated that he and Wendy will provide business cards to them. Vice -Chair Kellison asked if
Dr. Burns could introduce herself since she was not at the orientation meeting. Dr. Burns gave a brief overview of
her background and the other Commissioners introduced themselves to her.

ACTION TAKEN
Joe invited Commissioners to share information with the rest of the group. Paul Vicknair reported on some issues that
seniors have relayed to him since finding out he was going to be on this commission.
Pat Pina commented that one thing that she would like to see for seniors is grief counseling and stated that she does that.
She also invited everyone to the Anaheim Beautiful Gala on December 51" 11:30 a.m.at Dad Miller Golf Course and noted
that the Chamber of Commerce will be holding a forum before the next election and she will be the moderator.
Harold Ramey reported that a meeting will be held Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lamb of God Lutheran
Church to discuss homeless issues.
Dr. Burns asked about what assistance is available to help seniors, particularly if the tax cuts go through, and Joe Perez
explained that staff will work together with their nonprofit partners to provide whatever assistance they can.
Brent Dennis spoke to the Commissioners about their responsibilities and look at the broader issues that seniors deal with
and think more in terms of policy recommendations they can make to City Council rather than the minutiae of complaints
about facility issues, for example.
Joe announced that the Twila Reid tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. on December 15t and the Downtown Anaheim
Tree Lighting will take place on December 2nd at 6 p.m. Feldhaus Circle.
7. ADJOURNMENT: Joe Perez adjourned the meeting at 3:05 p.m.
