AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Joe Perez called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chair Ramey led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
Commissioner Vicknair commented that the agenda had no item for approval of the previous meeting minutes nor an item
for old business. Staff apologized for the omission from the agenda and indicated they will ensure it is included in all
future agendas.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Presentation — Office on Aging: Lindsay Springs from the Office on Aging presented a Power Point that described
the history and role of the Office on Aging, and answered questions for the Commission. Joe Perez announced that
at the next meeting the OC Strategic Plan on Aging, an 18 -month to 3 -year plan that a number of cities are
participating in with the County of Orange, will be presented to the Commission.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
A. Brent Dennis announced that the department has been working on a Parks Plan and asked if one commissioner
would like to represent the Commission on the Parks Plan Steering Committee. He also discussed plans for the
open space across from the Downtown Anaheim Community Center that had been slated to become condominiums;
a land swap for another property near the Fullerton border will enable this space to be used for park use. He
announced that the clearing out of homeless at the riverbed will begin shortly and the City will begin a pilot project
having extra nighttime park security in certain parks beginning on January 27. Brent also invited the commissioners
to the Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on March 21St beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove of Anaheim.
B. Joe Perez announced that the grand opening of the Ponderosa Park Family Resource Center and Gymnasium will
be held on Saturday, January 27th.
C. Wendy Solorio distributed a copy of the power point from the last meeting for each Commissioner.
7. ADJOURNMENT: Joe Perez adjourned the meeting at 3:12 p.m.
