AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Vice -Chair Kellison called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Vicknair led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. PRESENTATION: Holly Hagler, Executive Director of Community SeniorServ, provided a presentation and answered
questions about their senior congregate meal programs.
4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice -Chair Kellison asked for a motion to approve the minutes of March 15, 2018.
Commissioner Vicknair made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Pina; motion passed.
5. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION:
A. Hazel Alberas, from the Anaheim Senior Citizens Club, asked the Commission if they have a mission statement,
spoke about space availability for senior citizens at the East Anaheim Community Center, and inquired about the
department's policy on grants. Vice -Chair Kellison suggested addressing some of her concerns at the next meeting;
Commissioner Pina invited Ms. Albares to submit a list of items that she would like the Commission to consider. She
also shared that the Vineyard Church on La Palma has rooms that are available for use and suggested that Ms.
Alberas group could contact them directly.
6. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
7. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Parks Plan Update: JJ Jimenez from Community Services Parks Division provided an overview of the Parks Plan
that was recently presented to City Council and answered questions from Commissioners.
B. Annual Elections: Wendy Solorio opened the floor to nominations for Chair. Vice -Chair Kellison nominated Paul
Vicknair, seconded by Commissioner Collins. By show of hands, the vote was five ayes (Commissioner Burns left
the meeting before the vote); the new chair is Paul Vicknair. Wendy Solorio then opened the floor to nominations for
Vice -Chair. Commissioner Schindler nominated Harold Ramey, seconded by Commissioner Pina. Commissioner
Vicknair nominated Gary Kellison for Vice -Chair, seconded by Commissioner Pina. Vote called for Harold Ramey by
show of hands: three ayes; vote called for Gary Kellison by show of hands: one aye. Harold Ramey is the new vice -
chair.
8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Vice -Chair Kellison noted that at the last meeting he suggested that the commission should
begin discussing recommendations they would like to bring before City Council and suggested one way to do that would

be to forma subcommittee. He asked for clarification on the parameters of subcommittees on a City commission. After
discussion, Vice -Chair Kellison requested that an item, "Recommendations Discussion", be put on the next agenda.
9. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: None.
10. ADJOURNMENT: Vice -Chair Kellison adjourned the meeting at 3:45 p.m.
