RES-2019-121 RESOLUTION NO. 2 01 9 121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING CITY COUNCIL POLICY 5.8 OF THE CITY COUNCIL POLICY MANUAL RELATING TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, by Motion at the April 22, 2008 City Council meeting, the City Council approved adding a new City Council Policy on Traffic Calming to the City Council Policy Manual; and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to amend the City Council Policy Manual to amend City Council Policy 5.8 in order to update the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. Policy No. 5.8 entitled, "Neighborhood Traffic Management Program" is hereby deleted in its entirety from the City Council Policy Manual and replaced with the following: "It is the policy of the City Council that when traffic-related issues are identified in a neighborhood as a result of vehicle speeding, excessive traffic volumes, and/or unsafe driving, that neighborhood residents will request assistance from the City in identifying solutions. Through this Council Policy, the City of Anaheim establishes the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.The City's Neighborhood Traffic Management Program documents the process in which the City facilitates the development of traffic calming within neighborhoods. The Neighborhood Traffic Management Program is a"living document"in order to ensure the most current industry-wide information and tools are available to City Staff. This Neighborhood Traffic Management Program may be amended from time to time by the Director of Public Works as new neighborhood traffic management and traffic calming tools and techniques are developed, tested, and implemented, and the City continues to gain more experience with the Program. The City's Neighborhood Traffic Management Program is available to the residents of Anaheim, as adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim and is on file with the Director of Public Works. The Neighborhood Traffic Management Program requires a significant amount of effort to develop and implement. This Program should be applied to legitimate traffic-related issues in neighborhoods and should not be. developed to treat an isolated issue, event, or individual." Section 2. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
