A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM ESTABLISHING A FIRE
ADMINISTRATION WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
previously established a Fire Prevention Work Experience Program
which provides training in fire prevention to students enrolled in
Fire Science courses; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Prevention Work Experience Program
has proven beneficial to both the Fire Department and to the
individual participants; and
WHEREAS, the City of

WHEREAS, participants in the expanded program would
assist in the operation of the Fire Prevention Bureau, Mapping
Division and Training Division of the Anaheim Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Fire Administration Work Experience Program
is hereby established. Participants in the program shall be
students currently enrolled in Fire Science courses. The number
of participants in the program shall not exceed fifty (50) at any
time. All participants shall be volunteers and shall serve
gratuitously.
2. Each participant in the program shall serve as
such for a minimum of eight (8) hours per week. Participants will
not receive salary, wages or compensation for such volunteer
services rendered. Participants will not be deemed to be
employees of the City of Anaheim for any purpose.
3. The Fire Chief shall establish the requirements
to be met by persons to qualify to become participants in the
program. The Fire Chief may terminate any participant at any time
with or without cause, and any participant may resign as such at
any time by providing written notification to the Fire Chief.
Upon ceasing participation in the program, the participant shall
surrender any identification documents and other property issued
by the City.
4. The Fire Chief, or his designee, shall
designate the duties to be performed by participants in the
program. All duties shall be performed under the direct
supervision of the Fire Marshal or the Training Officer. Such
duties shall include, but shall not be limited to, assisting Fire
Inspectors with on-site inspections, handling certain complaints
relating to fire hazard conditions, assisting in researching data,
preparation of video training productions, and researching and
preparation of pre-fire plot plans.
5. Participants in the Fire Administration Work
Experience Program shall not be utilized at any time for emergency
response duties such as fire suppression or emergency medical aide
services. Participants may be used during emergencies to assist
as administrative aides, runners, or to assist in equipment
retrieval.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this16th day of Auqust, 1988.
