AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.16 OF
THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SECTION 10.16.120 THEREOF AND BY ADDING
SECTION 10.16.121.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That Title 10, Chapter 10.16, Section 10.16.120 of
the Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"SECTION 10.16.120 UTILITY DEPOSIT REQUIRED.
"The Customer Service Division of the Finance Department
shall require each utility consumer, except those who have
established credit with the City by one or more means as
provided in Section 10.16.121 hereof, to deposit with the
City a sum of money equal to twice the average billing as
estimated by the Utility Accounts Manager, but in no case
less than $15.00 for each residential electric service,
$25.00 for each commercial electric service, and/or $10.00
for each residential or commercial water service. Any
utility deposit so made to the City shall be held, without
interest, for a period of one year of prompt payment of
utility bills rendered; after which period the deposit will
be refunded. If any utility consumer should at any time
allow his credit rating to become impaired, as determined by
the Utility Accounts Manager, the consumer will be required
to pay a new or an additional deposit in an amount to be
determined by the Utility Accounts Manager."
SECTION 2.
That Title 10, Chapter 10.16 of the Anaheim Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto
Section 10.16.121 reading as follows:
"SECTION 10.16.121 METHODS OF ESTABLISHING CREDIT
FOR WAIVER OF DEPOSIT REQUIREMENT.
"The following means may be accepted as methods of establish-
ing credit with the City, for purposes of waiving the utility
deposit requirement:
1. Applicants having a previous or additional utility
service account, with the City, within the last three (3)
years, with the most recent year complying with the prompt
payment requirement of Section 10.16.120 hereof.
2. Applicants having established satisfactory credit
ratings through other reliable sources as determined by the
Utility Accounts Manager.

"In order to obtain a waiver of deposit under this section,
the applicant must complete a credit verification request
- form supplied by the Credit Section of the Customer Service
Division. Utility service will be supplied pending credit
clearance. If, after credit investigation, the applicant's
credit rating is found to be unsatisfactory as determined
by the Utility Accounts Manager, the applicant will be so
notified and be given a date by which the required deposit
amount must be paid. If such deposit is not made as
requested, utility service to the location applied for will
be discontinued without further notice."
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after
its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
this 9th day of November , 1965

introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Anaheim meld on the 19th day of October, 1965, and that the
same was duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting of said
City Council held on the 9th day of November, 1965, by the
following vote of the members thereof:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Dutton, Pebley, Schutte and Krein
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Chandler
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the Mayor of the City of
Anaheim approved and signed said Ordinance No. 2210 on the 9th
day of November, 1965.
