Subject:Little Arabia Designation
Hello, my name is Karen Malley, and I am an Anaheim resident. I am here to speak out in support of the Little
Arabia Designation. I support the designation because I think it is one way to honor the Arab culture in a
country where that has not always been the case.
There are many cultural and ethnic enclaves across Southern California such as the neighboring Little Saigon,
tourism, culture, and
Koreatown, Little Armenia, and others. These enclaves have contributed to the state’s
vibrancy.
It is time for the City of Anaheim to officially designate Little Arabia. It makes our city richer,
monetarily and culturually and it may help our Arabic businesses at the same time. Thank you for your time
and please consider designating Little Arabia.

The old man must have stopped our car two dozen times to climb out and gather into his hands the small toads
blinded by our lights and leaping, live drops of rain. The rain was falling, a mist about his white hair and I kept
saying, "You can't save them all, accept it. Get back in. We've got places to go."
But leathery hands full of wet brown life knee deep in the summer roadside grass, he just smiled and said,
"They have places to go too." Joseph Bruchac
