Subject:Senior rental assistance program enables extortion of seniors
Please commit to sustainable housing policy. Commit to adhering to our own RHNA requirements.
Stop enabling extortion of our seniors through programs like the senior rental assistance fund; it is not
affordable housing policy like it's being touted.
That program is not sustainable and it enables the extortion of seniors as has been documented in the news as
being the practice by Rancho La Paz mobile home park, a community of seniors. Rancho La Paz has been in the
news for years prior to this year, John Saunders being identified as the land owner. It's been recorded in the
campaign finance disclosure forms that the majority of the council has received contributions from John
Saunders. He also contributes to the Anaheim chamber of commerce & SOAR, major contributors of yours.
His $ seems to be loud & heard since the council has gleefully adopted the practice of accepting $ into the
senior rental assistance program in lieu of actual affordable housing units being built/permitted (I do appreciate
councilmembers that have encouraged discussion of this issue). Stop enabling the extortion of seniors.
