RESOLUTION NO. 87R-439
A RESOLUTION Of THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
CONTAINED IN THE REPORT OF THE TRANSPORTATION
"SUPER" COMMITTEE TO THE ORANGE COUNTY
DIVISION, LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES.
WHEREAS, the quality of life in Orange County is being
jeopardized by growing traffic congestion; and
WHEREAS, California currently ranks last in the nation in
per capita spending by states on highways and local roads; and
WHEREAS, Orange County has 12,000 cars for every freeway
mile which is the highest ratio of any county in the state; and
WHEREAS, in the Spring of 1987, the Orange County Division
of the League of California Cities, representing the twenty-six
(26) cities in Orange County, organized a task force of community
leaders to identify the most effective plan to alleviate the
traffic conditions which currently exist; and
WHEREAS, said task force, designated as the Transportation
"Super" Committee, has issued its Report to the Orange County
Division, League of California Cities dated September, 1987,
("Report") which contains the actions recommended by the
[ransportation "Super" Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim hereby supports the Report of the
Transportation "Super" Committee and its recommendations to:
i) continue successful ongoing programs, 2) initiate progressive
transportation planning measures, 3) expand roadway capacities, and
4) develop a funding program for priority projects.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Anaheim hereby urges the Orange County Transportation Commission
and the Orange County Board of Supervisors to development the
recommendations contained in the Report into a unified action plan
for implementation beginning in 1988.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Ãnaheim shall forward a copy of this Resolution to the Orange
County Transportation Commission, the Orange County Board of
~upervisors, and to the City Council of each of the other cities in
Orange County.
