A complete copy of the agenda for the meeting of the Anaheim Redevelopment
Agency was posted at 11:55 a.m. on October 1, 1993 at the Civic Center kiosk,
containing all items as shown herein.
Chairman Daly called the regular meeting of the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency
to order at 5:23 p.m.
FINANCIAL DEMANDS AGAINST THE ANAHEIM REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY in the amount of
$286,245.20 for the period ending October 1, 1993, in accordance with the
1993-94 Budget, were approved.
ITEMS OF PUBLIC INTEREST: No items of public interest were addressed.
PUBLIC COMMENTS - AGENDA ITEMS: There were no public comments on
Redevelopment Agency agenda items.
CONSENT CALENDAR ITEMS I - 2: On motion by Agency Member Daly, seconded by
Agency Member Simpson, the following actions were authorized in accordance
with the reports and recommendations furnished each Agency Member and as
listed on the Consent Calendar Agenda.
1. 123: Certifying and adopting the Negative Declaration, pursuant to CEQA
findings, in connection with the YKK Owner Participation Agreement; approving
the YKK Owner Participation Agreement for the construction of an industrial
building with a possible future building expansion to accommodate a zipper
manufacturing business on property located at 5001 E. La Palma Avenue; and
approving the Basic Concept Drawings for the YKK (USA), Inc., development.
Chairman Daly. This item involves the prospect of a major new company moving
to Anaheim, YKK Corporation. The vice-president and general manager of YKK,
Mr. Scott Kawamato is present today. He asked Mr. Kawamato to stand and be
recognized and thanked him for being present tonight. He and the
Agency/Council Members appreciate the interest YKK has in coming to Anaheim.
He asked Mr. Bruckner to give some background for the public's edification.
Richard Bruckner. Staff has been working with YKK over the last several
months to provide a 150,000 square foot facility site for the company to
relocate from Los Angeles. They will bring in excess of 100 jobs to Anaheim.
This is a result of the Department's Economic Development effort. They are
pleased to have negotiated the proposed agreement with YKK and look forward to
the construction of the facility. After the closing on the land expected
later this month, grading for the facility will commence. It will bring to
the Redevelopment Agency revenues in excess of 1.4 million dollars. It is a
win-win situation for the City and YKK.
Chairman Daly. They look forward to the ground breaking and opening day.
