Holyoke, City Engineer, advised tha~ this is a problem not subject to the immediate solution due to the flood control project and their inability to construct at this time the r,~qu]red flood control channei~ Mr, Sant advised that the single story duplexes referred to to the south of their property were on lots facing Citron Street and in their tract the lots wi![ be much larger and will be siding onto Citron Street. Regarding the property omitted from this reclassification, Mr. Sant stated that they were not purchasing the frontage on Palm Street, however, the e~tire property was presently under one ownership (the Wattis Estate) and the s~reet ~s proposed to extend easterly to Palm Street when that property is deveioped~ ~r. iqattis, one of the heirs to the estate, addressed the Council adv~sln9 that it ts set up that when the front property is sold that the street w~L[ be developed in from Palm Street; that they too want the street to go through, He further advised that they had a prospective purchaser for this ~4r. ~,[itchell Brant, speaking on behalf of the property owners to the south~ addressed the Council and advised that they welcome the comin9 apartment houses and asked where they intended to construct the garages for these units. Considerable thought and consideration was given by the City Council on how this zoning could be accomplished and still insure the dedication and im- provement of that portion of the street not included in this reclassification which would e×tend easterly to Palm Street~ ,~r.. Mattis further advised that they had given the proposed developers ~f this tract an easement from Palm Street to be used by them during their buildi~. A gentlemen in the audience stated that, in his opinion, it would look better :.f the lots on Citron Street would front on Citron Street instead of the 'nterior lot.. h,!:r~ Sant advised that the tentative map will be before theCity Planning Comm~ss~op February 17, 1958. ~r,, Mungall advfsed that the map presented at this hearing of the City Council ~s only a study of the area. ~,!ayor Pearson declared the hearing closed and thereupon, offered a Resoiut'ion approving the reclassffication subject to the recommendations of the City Planning Commission and upon condition that the tentative map be filed with the City Planning Commission and City Council.
