FREEWAY SIGNS: .Mr. Ernest Owston addressed the Council requesting the Council to appoint a coordinator to work with the several civic committees on the project of securing directional s~gns on the freeway. George E, Holyoke, City Engineer, reported on what progress had been made; that he hoped by next week the sketches and pictures, together with their recommendations would be ready for forwarding to the State Highway Department for consideration. He further advised that the State Highway Department is presently working on ground signs which will help the situation. VARIANCE NO. 945: Submitted by Mary Olivia Lateen, per Claire Larsen, Guardian, requesting permJ, ss~on to operate a restaurant and sell beer and wine between the hours of 1i:00 A.M. and 9~00 P.M., on property located at 900 South Los / Angeles Street t. southeast corner of Los Angeles Street and Vermont Avenue). The City Planning Commission, pursuant to their Resolution No. 226, Series 1957-58, granted said Variance to operate a restaurant, and sell beer and wJne with meals~ subject to the layout submitted with the parking area to be black topped. Action by the City Council was withheld at the April 15, 1958 meeting to th~s date° Communication from Claire Lateen, dated April 18, 1958, was submitted and read~ requesting permission to withdraw Variance Noo 945~ Councilman Coons moved to accept the Applicant's request to withdraw Variance No~ 9~5; Councilman Schutte seconded the motion° MOTION CARRIED. WAIVER OF CURBS AND SIDEWALKS: Communication of George Do Miller~ dated January 4, 1958, was submitted and read, requesting a waiver of the curb, gutter~ and sidewalk requirements at 2113 Ninth Street, Anaheim, California. Councilman Schutte seconded the motion° MOTION CARRIED. WAIVER OF CURBS AND SIDEWALKS: Communication from James Jo and June S. ~rright dated January 20, 1958 was submitted, requesting a temporary waiver of curbs and s~dewalks at 9222 Orange Avenue (south s~de of Orange, between Webster and Magnolia) until such time as street improvements are made or one year from date of their !etter~ whichever is sooner° George E. Holyoke advised that no improvements exist near this location and considerable street work will have to be done to provide drainage and, therefore, recommended temporary waiver of curbs and sidewalks until such time as street work can be a$complfshedo Councilman Schutte moved that curbs and sidewalks at this location be temporarily waived until such time as requested by the City. Councilman Fry seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED. FINAL MAP. TRACT NO. 3301: Subdivider, I'he Anaheim Company. Tract location, southeast corner of Cerritos and Ninth Streets, and contains 35 lots. George E. Holyoke, City Engineer, reported that the final map is substantially the same as the tentative map previously approved~ that all bonds have been filed and the necessary fees pard and recommended the acceptance of sa~d final map.
