.~N/ERSIAIE ADJUSIEZE CORPORATION --CON[PLATNT: Officers of the Interstate Adjusteze
Corporation were present and reported on steps being taken to abate the noise and
vibration complaints.
Discussion was held regarding what the reasonable limits of operations
would be and reference was made to standards established by the Denver Ordinance~
relative to sound levels.
Mr. Fedderman~ Chairman of the Board of Interstate Adjusteze Corporation
advised that they had been running a new die in the large press, and in his opinion~
running a heavier die is what had caused the trouble; by eliminating that particular
die, their operations did not cause objection, and he agreed not to run the press
during night-time hours.
Others addressed the Council and a sample of a dampener that is presently
being installed on the bottom of the presses, was submitted. It was reported that
these dampeners would take out 82~ of the vi!~ration and also quiet down the noise.
Mr. Smith reported on sound level measurements taken by him and suggested
that if an ordinance is considered, it be on a broad range basis rather than a
frequency basis.
Mr. Geisler, Assistant City Attorney, reported,on investigation made by
he and Mr. ~urd0ch~ that it was impossible to have no sound at the property line~
and the neighbors did not wish to have the Company move but some of the sounds were
more than they could stand. By the installation of these dampeners~ it may not
completely eliminiate the vibration and noise but may reduce it to a point where
it would no longer be objectionable.
The City Council agreed to allow the Company to commence operations Monday
morning tM order to test the effectiveness of the in~talled dampeners.
