PUBLIC HEARING: F-52-53-16:~ City Planning Commission Resolution No. 51 - Property
in the vicinity of East Broadway.
Public Hearing date was reset to 8:00 P.M.~ Tuesday, July 14; 1953 due.to
erroneous information in Legal Notice published Friday, June 19, 1953- motioned by
Councilman Heying~ seconded by Councilman Wi sser. MOTION CARRIED.
PUBLIC HEARING: BALL RO^D ~EXATION NO. 2; Pursuant to Resolution No. 2168 which
was read in full by -[he City Clerk~ declarin9 the inten-t:ion of the City C~uncil
to call a special election~ August 7, 1953.. for the purpose of determining whether
or not territory included within the Ball Road Annexation No. 2 should be annexed
and incorporated within the City Limits of the City of Anaheim.
The City Clerk stated that certification had been filed; that the petitioners
were qualified electors residing in the district~ and constituted more than one fourth
of the qualified electors upon which the City Council could base its jurisdiction
to call an Annexation Election.
The City Clerk further reported a total of 91 parcels of land in the
proposed territory to be annexed, and that the number of parcels represented by
a petition of protestants totaled 31. Total acreage in the area~ 527.53. Total
acreage of protestants to the annexation is 225.35.
Those persons in opposition to the annexation and voicin9 their opinions
were; Earl Mohn~ A1 Janzen~ W. F. Parker~ and Dr. Carlin~ Mr. Fa~ver and Paul Yorde.
Present and favoring annexation was Mr. Ralph Maas.
The Mayor declared the Hearing closed.

PUBLIC HEARING: LOARA-CRESCKNT ANNEXATION: Pursuant to Resolution No. 2173, public
hearing was held on the proposed Loara-Crescent Annexation.
The City Clerk stated that certification had been filed; that the petitioners
were qualified electors residing in the district and constituted more than one fourth
of the qualified electors upon ,hich the City Council could base its jurisdiction
to call an annexation election.
Petition presented protesting the annexation proceedings displayed 45
signatures~ ~ith two signatures duplicated. /he number .of parcles represeoted by

petitioners in opposition to the proposed annexation appears to be 25. The total
number of parcels in the ~erritory proposed for annexation totals 50 or more.
The City Clerk was unable to ascertain the total number of parcels in the
territory proposed for annexation because ownership maps were not available to
properly check the same.
The City Attorney advised that it would be necessary to continue the hear-
ing to the next regular meeting of the City Council to be held on Tuesday_~ ~July
1953, and it was so ordered on motion by Councilman Heying, seconded by Councilman
Van Wagoner. MOTION.. CARRIED.
ROMNEYA DRIVE ANNHXATION: Proposed Romneya Drive Annexation was brought up.
and Mrs. Brace appeared favoring this annexation~ and a petition o£ annexation was
again submitted to the.City Council.

The City Council deliberated on the matter off letting £or bid for
future insurances as it may become due from year to year.
VARIANCE: M. M. SELL TRAILER PARK: Under Resolution No. 1642, dated December 14,
1948.
Communication submitted to the City Council asked the following questions
and received the following answers:
1. Does the change of zone to R-3 on this property supersede his variance9
Answer: No.
2. Is the structure~ recently built on this property~ to be used to accommodate
trailers, and if so~ is it within his variance?
Answer: Yes~ utility house. He has a building_ permit to build, it.
It is within his variance and legally built.
3. Is it possible to grant Mr. Sell more gound for use of trailers~ outside his
variance, without this going through the ~egulart._~ procedure of coming bef~ the
City Council2

Mrs. C. F. Schmidt and Mrs. Kennedy were preS~ent at the meeting and spoke
upon the matter of rescinding Variance under Resolution No. 16427 for cause.
Councilman Van Wagoner moved that the changes in the trailer park proposed
to be made by Mr. and Mrs. Sell are not authorized.. _bY the present variance, and
that a new variance~ or a modification o{ the present variance be` obtained~ other-
wi se~ that the present variance be enforced. Motion seconded by Councilman Heying.
MOTION CARRIED.
APPOIN/M[NYS; pERSONNEL: Administrative Officer reported the appointment of
Lester E. Fox~ skit. led laborer; Schedule 20-H~ Step B ($i.51 Hr.) and John Si,inborn,
Jr., extra laborer~ Schedule 1~-D, ($1.27 Hr.) for during the~summer mo'nth, at the
parks.
Said appointments were ratified on motion by Councilman Heying~ seconded
by Councilman Van Wagoner. MOTION CARRI~-D.
STOP SIGNS; Petition submitted by John Spietman~ and others, requesting two stop
signs to be placed on East Street at the corner of~ North and East Streets.. The
purpose of these signs is to slow down traffic entering and leaving the ct{y, and
to protect the children living on East Street.
Councilman Van Wagoner moved that the installation of two stop signs at
this location be authorized Councilman Wi sser seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED.

BUSINF. SS LICENSE: Communication protesting the issuance of a ~usiness~license to
Aladdin Studio Upholstery at 1716 East Santa Ana Street~ in the R-l<Zone was sub-
mitted and read.
Said communication was referred to R. W. Mungall~ as it appea~s that this
type of business in the district is prohibited, motioned by Councilman Van Wagoner~
seconded by Councilman Heying. MOTION CARRIED.
