requested approval. Ms. Raey submitted t 6letters of support from residents in the
immediate area. Tim Elrod, Elrod Archftects, said he was present in the event that
staff had any questions on the design. One letter was submitted in opposition to
height variances generically being approved in the area but not directly opposing
this particular variance.

Waiver of permitted encroachment to erect a 9 foot high security fence in the
minimum front setback.
REMARKS: Thomas Grochow, Director of Property Operations of the Orange County Register,
discussed the request and the reason he felt it should be approved. No one was
present in opposition. The Zoning Administrator explained her concerns relative
to code not permitting chainlink fences in front setbacks not in Business Office /
Service /Industrial areas. The Deputy City Attorney described the findings which
must be made before a variance could be approved. In response to the Zoning
Administrator's question whether he wanted to take another look at the proposal
to bring it closer to code, Mr. Grochow indicated he did not want to spend
anymore money.
