The City Planning Commission, pursuant to their Resolution No. 97, granted
said variance subject to the improvement of the frontage along Lincoln Avenue as
required by the City Engineer.
Review of action taken by the City Planning Commission was ordered by the
City Council at their meeting held December 279 1955.
The Mayor asked if anyone in the audience wished to address the Council°
Mro Lloyd Mannes advised the Council that the applicant had recently
moved and~ in all probability, had not received notice of this public hearing, and

The City Planning Commission, Pursuant to their Resolution Nee 100, denied
said variance.
An appeal from action taken by the City Planning Commission was filed by
Warren L. Schutz, Attorney for Mr o Zinanermanno
The Mayor asked if anyone wished to address the Counc:~l on the matter.
Mr~ Schutz~ Attorney, addressed the Council and called attention to the
many times a use had been requested for ~his property~ and~ further, that Mr.
Zimmermann believed the entire area was Declassified at the same time the reclassi=
fication was made of that portion of the Property which was purchased by
N~rsellus. Mr. $chutz explained that a great deal of money had been expended in
moving the homes to the rear portion of the property and that Mr. Zimme~mann'was
willing to construct the same type of bui~lding as that of NLr~ Marsellus and was
also willing to construct any fence as r~quired by the City° He further called
attention to the fact 'that the property, as it now is, can only be utilized for
business purposes, and he presented a detailed plan of the proposed improvement~
Mro $chutz further advised that the proposed use of the property was for an auto
electrical repair shop which was not an objectionable business and would not create
noise or in any way become a nuisance°
Those addressing the Council in opposition to the granting of the variance
were Mr. Littrell who presented a petition containing 24 signatures of property
owners residing on MacArthur Manor, ValenCia Street and South Lemon Street who
opposed the granting of the variance~ Others addressing the Council opposing the
granting of the variance were Mrs° Boney ~nd Mr. Henry Mang.
Those addressing the Council urging the granting of the variance were
Mr° Co Ac Zimmermann and Mro A1 Miller, pmoposed operator of the auto electrical
repair shop°
There being no further discussion, the Mayor declared the hearing closed.

Mro Edward Greico addressed the Council in opposition to the granting
of this reclassification and presented a petition of residents of the Claredge Park
subdivision opposing the reclassification. In addition to that petition~ another
petition of Claredge Park residents was presented, also a petition of residents on
Westmont Drive was presented.
Mro Lloyd Mannes addressed the Council and asked if the consideration of
this recla s .si fi ca ti on could be withheld to allow additional time necessary to try
to work ou% the problems involved with both this reclassification and their Variance
No. ~67.
There being no further discussion on the matter, the Mayor declared the

CANVASS OF RETURNS OF SPECIAL ELECTION: BALL ROAD NO. 2 ANNEXATION: Mayor Pearson

Schutte~ 3udges~ for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the votes cas% at a
Special Election held 3anuary 179 1956 for %he annexation of territory known and
designated as Ball Road Nco 2 Annexation.
The Canvassing Board received the semi..~official returns of the election
and compared %hem to %he tally list and found the number of votes reported on the
semic~official returns to coincide, and thereupon declared the results of the election.
The City Clerk announced that one absentee vote had been cast by Amelia
So Behrens, and that she had ¢~apared the signature on the application for absentee
voter's ballot with the original affidavit of registration contained in the Grand
Register of the Orange County Katella Nco 2 Precinct and found the signatures to be
the same o
The Canvassing Board received the absentee vote and announced the name of
%he voter and asked if anyone present wished to challenge the vote° There was no
responseo Thereupon~ a comparison was made of %he signature on the identification
envelope with the original affidavit of registration in the Grand Register of the
Orange County Ka%ella Nco 2 P~ecinct~ and the signature on the application for
absentee voter's ballot was verified by all members of the Canvassing Board.
The ballot was then,deposited in the ballot box, removed, tallied, and
the results declared according to lawo

The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby makes a record of canvass
of returns of special annexation election.
Said special annexation election was held on the 17th day of 3anuary,
1956, in the manner provided by lawo
That for said election said City Council duly established one voting
precinct which was designated as the BALL ROAD NO. 2 ANNEXATION VOTING PRECINCT.
That the polling place for suc~ election was established and maintained
at the Orange Grove Trailer Park (Office~ 913 South Palm Stree%~ Orange County,
California~ which was within the hereinafter described unincorporated territory.
The description of the property proposed to be included in the annexa=

Public Hearings were held on this proposed reclassification and said
reclassification was granted subject to cohditionsi one being a P~L~ Parking=
Landscaping Zone along South Los Angeles S~reet 60 feet in depth~ and that the
rear portion of the P=L; Parking=Landscaping Zone extending to the alley be re=
classified to C=lo A further condition was that the property owners file C=I
zone restrictions and deed certain frontagE for the widening of South Los Angeles
Street.
The City Engineer advised that c,rtain property owners on South Los
Angeles Street could not meet the P-L Zone requirements and still utilize their
property.
This matter was referred to the Administrative Officer for further in~
vestigation.
AGCEPTING WORK ORDER NO. 2211: George F. Oelkers, Superintendent of Light, Power,
and Water, certi£ied that the C. and Jo Construction Company had completed the in=
stallation of pole lines in Iract No° 2537~ Work Order No. 2211, in accordance
