VACATE AND ABANDON AN EASF~~ FOR ALLEY PURPOSES UPON, OVER, ACROSS, AND ALONG THE
HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED REAL PROPERTY, AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE FOR A HEARING

_REQUEST, VOLUN/E~RS OF A~RICA ANNUAL TAG DAY: ' Request submitted by the Volunteers
of America to hold their Annual Tag Day in Anaheim on Saturday, ~arCh 10, 1956~ was
granted by the City Council on motion by Councilman Wisser, seconded by Councilman
Schutte. MOTION CARRIED.
R_EQUEST WAIVER OF CURBS AND SIDEWALKS- WESTMONT DRIVE: Request from Charles A.
Houston and G. E. Archer for a waiver of curbs and sidewalks at 1460 and 1464
Westmon% Drive was submitted and read. The Council ruled that until such time
as sidewalks and/or curbs are placed elsSWhere in this block, these requirements
are temporarily waived, on motion by Cou"cilman Fry~ seconded by Councilman
Wi sser. MOTION CARRIED.

PETITION RELATIVE TO VARIANCE NO. 369: Petition containing 18 signatures was'sub~
mitred and read relative to the operation ..by Dry... ~~e~r ~ .an emergency dressing
station at 600 South Palm Street (Variance No. 369). The petitioners requested that
the conduction of an emergency hospital be stopped and that the variance be revoked
by the City Council unless the conditions as applied for and outlined in said
variance are met. After further discussion, the City Council ordered Variance No.
369 to be investigated.

W~AGNER ANNEXATI. ON: Keith Ao ~rdoch~ Administrative Officer, reported that Mro
Wagner had recently purchased additional property and that the proponents now
desire to withdraw their original petition requesting annexation of uninhabited
territory to allow the inclusion in the annexation of additional property.
Request to withdraw original petition requesting Wagner Annexation was
approved by the City Council, on motion by Councilman Schutte, seconded by Council-

by the City Council, on motion by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Schutte.

GASOLINE BIDS: Discussion was held on informal bid proposals for the furnishing
of gasoline to the City of Anaheim for the period of one year, beginning February
15~ 1956 to February 14, 1957. The following fir~s subm~-trted bids: Seaside 0tl
Company~ Union Oil Company of California~ Troutman and Scholz~ Tide Water Associated
Oil Company~ Shell Oil Company; and Richfield Oil Corporation.
On motion by Councilman Schutte, seconded by Councilman Wisser, the bid
of Seaside Oil Company, for the furnishing of Regular Gasoline~ and the bid of
Troutman and Scholz, for the furnishing of Ethyl Ca,line, were appreved~ and the
~ayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute contracts for and on behalf of the
City of Anaheim. ~OTION CARRIED.

OFFER BY CENTEX CORPORATION OF ONE-FOURT~ INTEREST IN WELL~ Mr. Keith A, Murdoch,
'Administrative Officer, reported that the Centex Corporation had offered to sell to
the City of Anaheim a one-fourth interest in the Schroder Pumping Plant~ located on
the south side of Lincoln Avenue~ east of Brookhurst, for the sum of $107.43 which
represents the pro rata share of the property tax and power standby charge that is
presently due. After discussion by the Council, the Administrative O££icer was
requested to inform the Centex Corporatiion that their offer was declined.
SALES AND USE TAX ORDINANCE (ALLOWING TH~ STATE TO COLLECT TAX FOR THE CITY): The
Uniform Sales and Use Tax Ordinance received from the California League of cities
was discussed and referred to the City ~ttorney for study and recommendation.
Councilman Schutte moved to ad~ourno Councilman Wisser seconded the
motion. MOTION CARRIED.
