SIGN APPLICATION - LANDAG MANUFACTURING CO.: Application of Landag Manufacturing
Company requesting permission to erect a 4 foot by 48 foot sign at 114 North
Manchester Avenue, was submitted, together with planso
Mr. Don Hadden of Union SIgn Company, addressed the Council,
further explaining their proposed sign and advised that they were not
attempting to attract attention from the freeway, but from Lincoln Avenue
Plans were rev~wed by the Council and Councilman Chandler moved
did sign application be grantedo Councilman Fry seconded the motiono
MOTION CARRIED.
SIQ'J APPLICATION - MAG OIL CO.: Request of Mag Oil Company for permJ_ssion to
erect sign, 13 feet by 16 feet 4 inches, at 2222 Harbor Boulevard (White
Front Store), was submitted.
A Gentleman representing the Applicant advised that at present
there was no sign on the property and the location of the sign would be
approximately 5 feet to 10 feet from the property line
Plans were reviewed by the Council and It was noted that the
pans did not show ~over-hang on the property lIne Councilman Coons
moved the sign application be grantedo Councilman Chandler seconded the
mot on. MOTION CARRIED.
SIDEWALK WAIVER - 1000 Cerritos Avenue: On the recommendation of the City
Manager, request of American Lace Paper Company for waiver of sidewalk
requirements at 1000 Eo Cerritos Avenue, was granted on motion by
-':::uuncilman Coons, seconded by Councilman Chandlero MOTION CARRIED.
RECLASSIFICATION NO. F-59-60-1l; Request of Clarence Ho Mioery for 90-day ex-

DINNER DANCE PERMIT - BIG DUDE: Application of Jo Co Proctor for dinner dancing
permit, 1731 So. Manchester Avenue, was deferred from the meeting of
July 11, 1961 to this date, to allow for compliance with the Anaheim
Mun ipal Code bv the Appl cant.
Supplemental Police Report of inspect ons made July 14, 1961
,)Ul Y 20, 1961, was submi tted and read by the Ci ty Manager, reporting on
dition of the kitchen and percentages of food sold J_n other dinner dancing
es compared to this establishment. It was noted in comparison, that
two percent of sales was for food at the Big Dudeo
Mr. McNees, owner of the building, addressed the Council, urging
the granting of the permit and advising that this has been a restaurant and
dancing olace since 1935. It was his opinion that to deny him the right
t rent the building for the purpose for which it was built and used these
mar years, was unfairc
Councilman Chandler reported on his observations made of this
establishment and felt it obviously did not conform to Code requirements, and
thereupon moved that dinner dancing permit for the Big Dude be denied, and
further moved that the temporary permit granted July 11, 1961, be revokedo
