A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM RECOMMENDING GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT.
HHEREAS, the City of Anaheim recognizes the importance of
improved air transportation for Orange County; and
WHEREAS, such air transportation is vital to the economic
well being of the County; and
WHEREAS, the present airport facilities are totally
inadequate to serve our 2 million residents now and in the future;
and
HHEREAS, John Wayne Airport has an outstanding Noise
Abatement Program and it should continue; and
WHEREAS, additional passenger flights numbering not less
than 55 with 3 flights additionally for future air cargo aircraft
are n~cessary and the number of passenger flights was approved in
the 1981 Master Pl~n; and
HHEREAS, we recommend improvements in terminal space,
additional parking, ground traffic considerations, runway upgrade
and other facilities as deemed necessary; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has decreed no new site
is available in the County for an airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Anaheim
is in full support of above improvements outlined for John Wayne
Airport and respectfully urges the Orange County Board of
Supervisors to promptly move ahead with the steps necessary to
implement said imprbvements.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of February, 1983.
