A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM GRANTING JOINT AUTHORITY TO THE
CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY TO ALLOW,
COMPROMISE OR SETTLE WAGE CLAIMS OF EMPLOYEES
UP TO THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES
DI RECTOR
WHEREAS, in the course of employer- employee relations,
grievances may be lodged involving wage claims by employees
pursuant to the Memorandums of Understanding, resolutions, and
ordinances concerning employer - employee relations; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Anaheim City Council
to facilitate the prompt and fair settlement of such grievances
so as to give all employees their proper wage entitlement under
the Memorandums of Understanding, ordinances, and resolutions;
and
WHEREAS, when the Human Resources Director determines
that the facts support the employee's grievance concerning wages,
he shall recommend an appropriate correction in such wages to
both the City Manager and City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager shall review the factual
basis for making such a correction in wages, while the City
Attorney shall review the legal basis for making such a correc-
tion; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of
Anaheim to settle employee grievances involving claims for
wages promptly and fairly by granting to the City Manager and
City Attorney authority to settle such grievances; and
WHEREAS, the grant of such authority is designed to
expedite the allowance, compromise and settlement of such claims
and is not intended to supplant existing personnel rules on
grievance handling.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that, upon recommendation by the Human
Resources Director, the City Manager and City Attorney are hereby
given joint authority to allow, compromise or settle employee
grievances involving wage claims pursuant to Memorandums of
Understanding, resolutions, and ordinances concerning employer-
employee relations.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such authority shall
be limited to a dollar amount not to exceed $1,000 for each
claim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 9th day of
December, 1980.
