single familp residence district. The petition requested
i;hat a variance permitting a retail grocerq and notions
business be granted. The variance petition wae acoompanied
by a petition af ordinary form, aigned by propertp ownere
and others in th~ district, sho~ving that sa,id signers had
r.a ob~ection to the o'peration of said. re~ail business.
A motion to recommend that the petition be denied was
secondec~ and unanimously carried.

cane~ideration. The Councilxen membere reported that 3::ch
an aecount ~vas set up for ~he next fiscal period, an~ so
the matter wsa dropped wit~out mentioning any amount.
Flood The ~lood of March 3rd was diacussed briefly, and
several airplane niew pictures were exhibited. The Com-

~ flood. The opinzon was that governmental agericies were

Street to East Street was mentioned, but inasmuch as an
underpaes ~.t ~the railroad croasing is still considered
advisable, it was felt that nothin~ could be done at this
~ime.
Correction of the undesira~le condition on Eaet Center
~ Street approach to Placentia Ave. was su~gested, but no
action takea. ..
