• ~=;~ WHEREAS, at an adjouned regular.meeting held December 19, 1963, the Planning
~`~ Commission.rlid consider a revision to the originally approved definition of an Automibile

,~,..~ Sexvice Station, in Resolution Noo 832, Series 1963-64, and

::.'I WHEREAS, the romplete defi.nitiun as proposed by the Service Station Study Committee
~;;_; was reviewed in.detail, and certain recommended changes were made by the Service Station
~;;:; Operatoxs~ Represent~itives, and

'~; WHEREAS, the Plannzng Commission did review said recommended changes as they pre-

~;; NOW, THEREFORE9 BE IT RESOI.VID that the_.P1an~ing Commission of the City of Maheim
,~+ recommends io the Ci~ty Ccunci'1 of the City of Anaheim •the deletion of the definition of
us; a f illing station in Section 18~080330, and the definition of a super-service station in
u" Section 180080720, and that, in lieu thereof, Chapter 18008, "Definitions" be amended as

"A xetail piace of.~usiness engaged primarily in ±he sale of motor fuels, but also supplying
goods and sexvices generally required in the operation and maintenance of motor vehicles
and in.the.ful°illing of tne motorists needs~ This shall.include, for all motor vehicles
whesi conducted outside the service statioh building and for vehicles of i~ tons or 1@ss
rated capacity :vhen conducted within the ser.vice s~ation building9 the sale of petroleum
.. products, tires, batteries9 accessories, lubrication items, and tine suppiy}ng vi u~iia~
customer services or products, the performance of minor emergency xepairs, and the sexvicing
of spark plugs, batteries, ignitian systems~9 carh~-~tors, Water hose, fan l~elts, brake
fTuid, light bulbs, wiper blades, blade arms9 tire„ (including breakdown)9 and brake adjust-
mentse This shall alsa include9 for vehicles of 1~ tons or less rated capacity when conduct-
ed within the service station bui'lding, the sale and servicing oi fuel pumps, iuel lines9
mufflers, exhaust pipes, fl~or matsy seat covers, grease retainexs~ wYieel bearings, universal
joints, cleaninq and repairing of carburetors, repair of tires, cleaning and flushing of
radiators9 repair of electricai wixingy installation of brake shoes, repair of brake cyl-
inders, steam cleaningy and washing9 pulisning, and waxingo This shail also include for
vehicles of l~tons or less raied capacity when conducted wiihin the service station building9
thR removal, erhaul, and r2p'iace~„en~ o£ motors, differentials, and transmissions, provided
that said rep ~ir sha'il ^nly be conclucted acjcas•ionaily., shall only constitute an incidential
part of the s~rvice station operation, ancllshall not oe obnoxious or offensive by reason
of emission'of odor, smoke, noise, or vibra~tion detximental to tha public health, safety
or generai welrarea All new and used merctjandise shail be stored and displayed within the
service station building, except new and re:,onditioned tires, batteries9 accessories and
lubrication 3~ems which are maintained in movable or ettclosable cabinets or racks especially
designed for the disptay and sale of said merchandiseo No used or discarded automotiive parL•s
or equipment shali be located outside the service station building except within an enclosed
trash storage area. ,Tt~e rental of two-wheel uncovered utility trailers are•permitted, pro-
vided that said traile~s shall be backed up.against a solid fence or masonry wall a minimum
of 30 inches~in ~eight~ said wall or fence'shs11 be complimentary to and integrated with the
materials an~i design of the service statiano Ai'1 pain~ing, body and fender repairy and tire
recapping, is excluded and the •rental of covexed and tandem traiiers and other heavy equip-
menty and the sale and rental of other merchandise9 other than specified above9 are exciudtd
except when lecated in a zone permitting said uses subject to the limitations of said zoneo
BE IT EU~THER RFSOLVED that the Anaheim Plannir.g Commission recommerids to the City
Council that it be the interpretation and policy of the City Councii that all automobile
service stations heretofore es±ablished in tha City of Maheim shall be operated and main-
