AND AN ADDITION TO SEGTION 18.62.155 AND SEGTION 18.62.180 THERETO
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission on September 21, 1964 did recommend to the
City Council the establishment of Chapter 18.G2, Signs, Advertising Signs and Structures;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council on December 29, 1964 did adopt Ordinance No. 2072 establish-
ing an addition to Title Eighteen of Chapter 18.62, Signs, Advertising Signs and Structures;
and
WHEREAS, in the administratio-, of said Chapter of Title Eighteen, it has been deter-
mined that certain amendments were necessary to clarify the intent of the ordinance; and
WFIEREAS, the City Planning Commission did initiate, conduct and receive evidence at
public hearings on March 1, and 15, 1965 before said Commission; and
WHFREAS, the Anaheim City Planning Commission did recommer~d certain amendments and
additions to the adopted comprehensivc sign ordinance,
NONf, THFAEFnRE, BE IT RFSOLVED that the Anaheim City Plann+.ng Commiseion does
recommend to the City Council of the City of Maheim amendments to Title Eighteen, Chapter
18.62 of the Maheim Municipal Code as followss
"Section 18.b2o020(d) NAMES PLATES; Thie category sha:i include lighted or unligtited
signs identifying the occupant of the premises."
"Section 18.62a030(g) PORJECI'ING SIGNs A sign other than a wall sign suspended from
or supported by a building and projecting outward therefrom such pro,jecting sign
shal~ include a wall sign when said wall sign is less than ten (10) feet in height
above any public right-of-waye"
"Section 18.62v030(j) WALL SIGNa A sign which is affixed to an exterior wall of
any building or which is affixed to any structure attached to the building,
provided that all of the following conditions exist~
(i) such wall sign shall have only one disFlay surfece;
(ii) such single display surface shall be placed paraliel to and in front of
any exterior wall of the buildinqt
(ii;l such sign shall not project over or into any public right of way;
(iv) such sign shall not projcct above the parapet or eaves of the building;
(v) such single display surface shall not project more than sixteen (16)
inches beyond the wali or structure to which it is attached."
"Section 18,62.030(I) ARFA OF SIGNa The area of a sign shall include the entire
area within any type of perimeter or border which may enclose the outer limits of
any writing, representation, emblem, figure or character. The area of the sign
having no such perimeter or border shall be computed by enclosing the entire area
constituting tfie advertising message within a parallelogram or triangle."
"SeCtion 18.62v090(b-1) MA~IBER OF FREE-STANDING SIGNS PQt~fTlTID. One (1) multi-
faced free-standing sign, designating the prir,cipal uses of the premises, shall
be permitted for any amount of street or highway frontage existing on any one
parcel of propertye M,additional free-standing sign shall be permitted for each
additional three hundred (380) lineal feet of street or highway frontage in excess
of the first three hundred (390) liriealfeet of such frontage; provided, however, when mcue
than one (1) free-standing sign is permitted, no free-standing sign shall be located
closer than three hundred (300) feet from any other free-standing sign or roof sign
located on the same parcel of real propertye"

feet in area.

"SectiQn 1R.62.155 ODAMiIERCIAL USE OF RESIDF.M'IAL STRUCfURES--SIGNS PERMITTID.
"The commercial use of a structure originaily designed or intended for residential
use shall not be subject to the sign restrickions_of this section if authority for
such commercial use is granted pursuant to Title 18 and, in the opinion of the
Chief Building Inspector or his designated representive, there has been signaficant
alterations in the pre-existing external residential appearance of said structure.
Any determination as to such externaZ alterations made by the Chief Building
Inspector or his authorized representative shall be sub~ect to review by the City
Council if review is requested by any person aggrieved by the decision of the
Chief Building Inspector or his authorized representative."; and
"Section 18.62.]BOINTENSITy dF LIGHTING AND DIREGTING OF LIGHTING OF SIGNS.
(c) No illuminated sign shall hereafter be erected or constructed unless the
illumination of said sign is 250 feet ;~mberts or less as said foot lamberts
are measured on any surface, and :;here shall be a statement of the manufacttu~-
er attached to the sign thereto indicating that said sign does not exceed 250-foot
lamberts as measura~) at any surface. Such measurement shall be establishec~
by any light measuring device.appr.oved by the'Chief Building Inspeator. Said
illumination shall exclude the effects of other light sources ancl shall
exclude the effects of other external conditions which will affect the foot
lamberts illumination of said sign."
