A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLADIDIIDIG CAA1MISSIO;J OF THE CITY OF AIJAHEIM RECOMN;E:'~1DING
TO THE CITY COU~ICIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM THAT AiJ AMEIdDA9EiQT TO THE
GEfdERAL PLA^d, CIRCULATION ELEMENT, HIGE3WAY RiGHTS-OF-WAY, KidOWhi
~ AS GENERAL PLAN AMEt4DME;4T NO,. 94, BE APPROVED
WHEREAS, Convention VJay is designated on the Circulation Element Highway Rights-of-Way
of the General Plan as a standard secondary arterizl street, with a hal;-width of 45 :eet;
and
WHEREAS, studies have indicated that the half-width should be increased to 55 :eet,
in order to provide ior a raised median; and
WHEREAS, the City °lanning Commission did hold z oublic hearing at the City Ha;l in
the City of Anzheim on July 31, 196i, at 2:00 0'clock P.h1., notice of =_oid pubiic hearing
having been duly given as required by lavr and in accordance with tne provisions of the
Anahei.m hlunicical Code, to hear and consider evidence for ano aqainst said oroposed re-
clas=_ification and to investigate and make `indings and recomc ~~.dations in connection there-
with; and
WHEREAS, said Commission, after due insoection, investigation, and study made by
itself and in it=_ behalf, and aiter due considerat~or. oi all evidence and reports offereo
at said hearing, does find and oetermine the follov~ing ;acts:
1. That the stree~ wil] provide circulation :`or tne Convention Cer.ter and thF
40 acres io its =_outn tivithin the Commercial-Recreation Area.
2. That in order to assist in the control oi vehicular tra,`fic, and erchan~e
the Convention Center landscaoinq, a raised median is being incorporat_d
in the desiqn o~ said street, making a half-width o` 55 :eet neces~zr}~
instead of the presently desianated 4j ieet.
3. That the estabiishment of a 55-foot ha1.-width :or Convention Way, between
West Street ond Harbor Boulevard, will assist oroperty owners fronting on
said street, to properly plan for the develo~ment of their oronerty.
4. Thzt the trafric carryina characteristics o: Conver.tion Way from VJes± Street
to Harbor Boulevard wi11 b? those of a Niajor arterial street.
P•IOW, THERHFORH, BE IT RESOLVED that the City P]anning Commission dces nereby recommend
to the City Council of the City of Anaheim that General Plan Amendment 'io. ~~ be ap:roved,
establisning Convention Way, between West 5treet and Harbor Boulevard, as a ~~-foot nal;-
width Ma;or Hignway, and listing it on the Table of Exceotions of tne Circulation Element-
Hiahway Rights-of-Way o.` the Genera] Plan.
