RESOLUTION N0. PC68-194
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNItvG COMMISSION RECOMMHNDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM STREET NAME CHANaES FOR MIRALOMA AVENUE AND SUNKIST
STREET OVERPASS OF THE RIVERSIDE FREEWAY AND TH0.SE CUL-UE-SAC PORTIONS
STILL NAMED MIRALOMA AVENUE AND SUNKIST STREET, THERETO
WHEREAS, upon completion of the Miraloma Avenue and Sunkist Street overpass of the
Riverside Freeway, the original rights-of-way were cul-de-saced at their term=ni zdjacent
to the Riverside Freeway; and
WHEREAS, to avoid confusion in having streets ;~ith the same names, it is deemed
necessary that the cul-de-sac portions of the original rights-of-way of Miraloma Avenue
and Sunkist Street be renamed; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing in the City Hall in
the City of Anaheim on June 17, 1968, at 2:00 0'clock P.M., notice of said pub~ic hearing
having been duly gi.ven as required by 1aw, to hear and consider evidence for and against
said street name changes, and to investigate and make findings and recommendationc in
connection therewith; and
WNEREAS, said Commission, after due inspection, investigation, and study made by
itself and in its behalf, and a:ter due consideration of all evidence and reports off ered
at seid hearing, does find and deter~nine the following facts:
1. That the new eldgnment of Miraloma Avenue and Sunkist Street made necessary
the termination of the old alignments at the Riverside Freeway, thus creating
two streets with the same names.
2. That the Riverside Freeway is the logical delineation point for termination
of one street name for Sunkist Street and Miraloma Avenue, therefore, Sunkist
Street will extend southwesterly from the Freeway, and M;raloma Avenue will
extend north•easterly from the Freeway.
3. That one person appeared and two letters were received in opposition to a
street name change for the cul-de-sac portion of Miraloma Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Planning Commission recommends to the
~ity Council of the City of Anaheim the following street name changes be adopted, based
on the foregoing find3ngs:
1. I'hat the portion of the old Miraloma Avenue right-of-way, which is cul-de-
saced at the Riverside Freeway, be renamed "Miraloma Way".
2. That the existing Sunkist Street, north of the recently completed overpass
be renamed "Sunkist Way".
3. That the new aligtament' of Miraloma Avenue from Blue Gum'Street to the Riverside
Freeway officiaily be narned "Miraloma Avenue",
4. That the new alignment of Sunkist Street from La Palma Avenue to the Riverside
Freeway officially be named "Sunkist Street".
